Thread: Tape SEAs in BE engineered clothing

This may be a stupidly obvious question, but I'm not sure of the answer and at least one person here probably knows the answer.

Can SEA bonuses stack with BE clothing bonuses? I other words, if you make a socketed item that has BE enhancements, and you add SEA tapes to the sockets, do they work on top of the BE bonus?

Here's another one. What if the SEA bonus is the same as one of the ones conferred in the BE bonus? Will the supposed +25 limit on enhancements to a single skill also cap the SEA plus?

Got a client (who's also a friend and PA mate) who was thinking about plugging some of her SEAs into her new BE suit I made for her, and I told her to hold off until I'd had a chance to check here. Thanks for any help.

What are SEA tapes?

But if it helps, I've tried putting a wound treatment tape in my wound treatmentduster and it just ate it. And CSR won't reimburse it either.

Well, this is a bit of a loaded question. First off, there is still some debate as to whether or not skill tape enhancements work at all. Second off, there is still some debate as to whether all bio engineered tissues are effective. So now you ask whether the combination of the two are effective together *snicker*.

My advice... don't go there. If you are fortunate enough to have a skill tape enhancer, put it in a piece of clothing like a glove, or a boot or a belt, that way you avoid this situation altogether. I'm not saying it won't work with a BE clothing item, I'm saying that I doubt there is anyone, including the developers (who alwaysseem to know less about these things than the players)who could positively tell you that such a thing does or does not work. When a customer asks me this question I just shrug and tell them to do this at their own risk.

SEAs are the skill modifiers that go into sockets in clothing or armor. The clothing ones look like tapes (pieces of trim, actually), and are the ones tailors are concerned with, naturally. They can't be made but drop from mobs (at least they used to; I'm non combat and I'm not sure if they still do). If the garment ate yours, that may answer my question. Anybody else fiddled with this?

Well I've put some ranged defense and other tapes in bio clothing without any problem, to my knowledge it's when there is already a bonus of the same kind on the clothing that it doesn't work.
