Thread: Tailoring Wishes, Dreams and Screams (v1.1)
Okay here is a consolidated list from what I have read so far. Please add comentary and more ideas so I can get an even more refined feel as to what you feel is most important as a whole!
Experimentation and Decay Ideas & Wishes:
- Color fade Rate
- The high end 255 colors only available depending on quality percentage
- Rare colors, effects beyond the current ones unlocked depending on quality percentage.
- Add some minimal defense bonuses or resistances. Such as Cold Weather Jacket actually protects from cold.
- Durability returned!
- Viable Decay, Such as Minor Decay through 'use actions' (character actually performs an action instead of being disconnected or afk) or Major Decay through combat, incap and death.
Color and Texture Wishes:
- Broader secondary color pallets, the full 255 color pallet - if not that for god's sakes at least let us combine the small leather pallet and the large leather pallet into one.
- Better color choices for Wookiee outfits.
- A third color option for more complex pieces of clothing.
- Metallic Fabric color choices and/or shiny vinyl textures.
- Numbered color pallets for easier swatch identification.
Schematic and Loot Wishes:
- A ton more schematics in every wearable area imaginable (Mad props to Kwee for keeping track of this list... that's a tome on its own!)
- Rare schematics as loot.
- Collapsible categories in the crafting tools, that stay collapsed between uses.
- Schematics that require two or more profession item sources to make. Examples:
Droid Engineer + Architect + Tailor = Cybernetics
Chef + Ranger + Bio Engineer + Tailor = Survival Gear - Schematics that are Profession Restricted. Specialty Uniforms for various professions to wear.
Merchant Crossover Wishes:
- Word Search functionality on the Bazaar and Vendor.
- Display Cases.
- Mannequins.
- Holographic 'Dressing Room' tool.
- Bundle outfits together as one 'set' on Vendors.
- The ability to sell items through vendors exclusivly for specific players.
- Wookiee items sorted under special wookiee category.
Bio Engineer Crossover Wishes:
- Tissues to actually, like, work and stuff?
Misc Wishes:
- Other wearable storage besides backpacks. Purses, sling pouches, fanny packs. Some of the Pocketed slacks actually having storage. E.g.: 5 slots for pants, 10 slots for a small purse, 20 slots for fanny pack.. you get the idea.
- Give men the ability to go without a shirt at all.
So far so good, lets keep hearing it! ![]()
*hugs*
I have a very short list of wishes:
* Full RGB color scheme allowing full color customization, this is for all items including leather and jewelry.
* The return of clothing experimentation; for synth cloth, reinforced fiber panels, etc.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Allow Tailors to make skill tapes.
- These would replace the experimentation color progression (just give the full color spectrum off the bat).
- Skill tapes would require components made by other professions allowing for more profession interaction. These would end up being just like the current loot drop version... although I would insist that some decay be included with these. Either straight time based decay on the skill tape enhancement or death based would even work.
- As the skill tape decays the enhancement slowly lowers. So a +10 ranged accuracy would slowly decay down to +0 ranged accuracy. They permanently occupy a created clothing slot.
Example
Ranged Accuracy Tape
10 Identical Reinforced Fiber Panels
1 Ranged Accuracy Insert (created by weaponsmith)
/Example
This would guarantee enough repeat business for tailors. There are a lot of people out there who do not fight enough to own armor, or prefer the look of clothes when fighting. Though clothes would never offer the same defensive bonuses as armor, we could offer some other bonuses.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
# of sockets related to quality/customization.
More rare resource requirements to make some items rare.
I don't know if this is what you mean by "Dressing Room", but as a simple solution to players being unable to pick colors... why not have a checkbox on the customization screen that makes the item appear in front of you (unselectable), so the customer can see it as you update colors? This could be done pretty easily, as I'm not suggesting the item appear on the customer, but just have it float in front of you so they can see it, while you pick different colors/shades... Then they can pick the one they want, exactly.
I'd have to say that ANY kind of tool for helping customers pick clothing and/or colors would be high on my wish list. There's lot of things we can make that I've never seen anyone in game wearing (aside from me lol)
I'm in favor of some kind of color labeling that makes it easier for us to match colors, but I'm very very against any kind of preview that lets the customer seeschematics orcolors while we're working on an item. The fun part of working with customers is listening to them and coming up with a few options to show them. If they make some kind of system where we can just click through our schemsor even justthe colorsfor a customer then they're going to want to see every single thing in every color every time. And a main part of our creative input will be taken away.
If they add something like that, they may as well just replace us with clothing designterminals. We'd basically spend all our time going "how about this blue? what about this one? oh, you want to see the first one again?" and that would just suck the fun right out of tailoring. No thanks.
I will comment on the bad ideas, the rest I would tend to agree with.
Experimentation and Decay Ideas & Wishes:
- The high end 255 colors only available depending on quality percentage
- Rare colors, effects beyond the current ones unlocked depending on quality percentage.
Bothof these ideas are horrible. I think that all 255 colors (and hopefully more) would be available to all items at Master level. If I want to make a Wookiee wait wrap bright red I should. This is an avanced society and I don't think Wookiees are trying to hide in the woods. they are pretty up on fashion and red would be a great choice. unlocking colors would cause too many problems with having to try and try and try agin to make an item with a specific color that is requested. I get enough Crit fails with my 14.9+ crafting tool and 39.9+ crafting station that it would not be worth the hassle.
Schematic and Loot Wishes:
- Rare schematics as loot.
- Schematics that require two or more profession item sources to make. Examples:
Droid Engineer + Architect + Tailor = Cybernetics
Chef + Ranger + Bio Engineer + Tailor = Survival Gear
Two morebad ideas. Rare useable items as loot causes camping and then only those who spend all their time hunting get the benefit. Requiring multiple crafters only makes things more difficult especially when I don't know those other people. And NOI am not playing this game to meet peple. I know enough people in real life. This is an escape from reality, ifI want to meet someone I will get off my butt and walk outside.
Merchant Crossover Wishes:
- Bundle outfits together as one 'set' on Vendors.
What consititues a 'set' ? What you say a 'set' is does not mean I think it is a 'set'. A ribbed shirt and ribbed pants is not a set they are items that have the same beginning name.
Misc Wishes:
- Give men the ability to go without a shirt at all.
Why not women too? This is an age old question and can not be answered in this game. I agree that the underwear that is forced on characters is pretty lame but it serves its purpose and forces the men to buy clothing.

I think the idea is that the Tailor will define the "set". In other words, being able to sell "an outfit" instead of "a shirt". My 'Imperial Officer' set might consist of Uniform Boots in Black, Thin Striped Pants in a Dark Grey or Black, and a Grey Long Formal Jacket. Yours might include gloves, or perhaps a different boot style, or maybe you don't want to sell an Imperial Officer outfit at all.
Personally, I think this is a great idea.
On the merchant crossover list, I would love to see the 7 day sales end/email spam go away. Of all the classes out there, I think tailors get hit the most by this 'feature'. We're most likely to have a huge selection on our vendors of items we want to have in stock everyday. We have lots of colors for various pieces of clothing, giving customers a robust choice in our products. It's not uncommon for a tailor to have 500+ items on sale at a given time.
Yet every 7 days I get spammed by the emails and have to spend 20-30 minutes a week retagging various items that didn't sell in the given time period. These are items I don't want ending in sales, I want them out there for variety.
Some really good ideas here, going to repeat some things because I think they are a good ideas..
Would love to see every clothing item to have the option for 255 colors when you become a Master Tailor (I mean why not, they can build space ships/death stars/clone people but the tailors have limited use of colors??? WEAK)
Would also like to see more items to make (I see a lot of NPCs with clothes on that tailors can't make, some are droped by NPCs; example:the clothing item called 'vest'; its the only vest in the game that looks like what Han Solo wore in Star Wars but tailors can't make it)
And of course decay (only way I see it working, though most people wouldn't like it, would be the clothing items take damage when ever a person takes damage, example: a dancer is dancing and while she/he is dancing they take damage on their action HAM bars, damage is also given to their clothing item; a doctor is healing someone they take damage on their mind HAM bars, damage is also give to their clothing items..etc)
Again this is just what I would like to see added to the game!
I'd like to point out 2 things really quick that people are commenting on:
Full RGB Spec.-
This will not happen. They use a color lookup table that has a max size of 255. In order for them to add the full spectrum they would have to completely redesign the coloring system for the entire game. Once again, not going to happen.
More schematics-
Same problem as above. How many schematics to we currently have? We have noted that the crafting tool can only hold 255 schematics thus we are very limited for what we can use. They probably won't(or SHOULDN'T) add any more tailoring schematics till they split the armor/clothing tool into 2 separate tools to get around the 255 schematic bug. Then they can start adding more tailoring schematics if they wish.
I think thats a great list that you came up with though. Keep up the good work.
Vandessa ---
a very good list.....
my top issues are
1. No true black and no white. Now, this does exist. there is an item that has this. The Dress robe. it has a different color palette than any other item. Maybe you should look into why that one item has a different pallet than any other item. It would be nice to have its colors available.
2. Not having the 255 color palette for all items... even at master i can still only make a cloak in 10 horrible colors. Many items never go beyond the awful noob pallete.Maybe justprogramming oversite
3. Primary/Secondary Color choices make no sense. Take the smock...the main robe has the 10 choices (brown, grey, greyish-brown, brownish-gray), while the waist band has 255. Same goes for desert command jacket...outer jcaket is the bland color scheme while the shirt is 255
4. Colors too similar... even with the 255 color pallete i would say 1/2 are so close that they might as well be the same color
5. Stone-Age look....so many of the clothes look like something out of Conan the Barbarian...a bunch of badley cut hides stiched together with big pieces of leather twine
6.Many the clothes are are the same.item with a different name.....sorry but 1/2 the pants are the exact same pant..adding a stripe doesnt make it look that different
7. MORE HEADWARE....the twileks and wookies get all the good hats
8. More racially specific clothing....would be nice to see some Mon Cal or Trandy specific items
9. Clothing on NPCs but not craftable....there is a very nice Robe taht only drops as loot and a headdress that i have only seen NPCs
10. SEXIST, JUVINILE DESCRIPTIONS....i personally find some of the descriptions inappropriate and offensive. do they really need to state who finds what attractive. i am not a pc type person but this just bugs me for some reson...sounds like they where written by a 14 yo boy
11. Sex Restrictions...many garments should be unisex instead of female only...like grand healers...if anything "usually worn by females" should be removed from items...i am just weird in the fact that i dont believe its up to the devs what i can and can not wear
12. Mislabeling and Bad Labeling....Nearly everthing in MIsc actually has a real category....many robes are labeled as "Dresses" and should be moved to the robe category...this really goes with #10 & #11...i sell many "dresses" to men and have yet to see a female in any of these garments..but if they are doing a search or sorting or reading decriptions this can be a turn off of the sale...
13. Colors look diffent while crafting than being worn.....maybe its my monitor but something might look charcoal grey in the crafting tool but when worn is purple...or lloks much lighter or darker
14. More Jewelry....more armbands and legwrap typejewelry...stuff similar to the NightSister bracer
15. Non-sensical resource requierments...i know they revamped them at the end of beta but some are still wacked...i know there is some hide item that takes no hide and some small items which take far too many resources for its size while a large garment takes next to nothing...some of the recipes just dont seem right....
16. SAVE PATTERN...i would like top be able to save a "pattern"....i dont want to run off 10 or a 100....i just want to save the color scheme so when i need to make 1-2 more i dont have to remember which orange or shade of grey i used the last time. these could be saved to our datapad and pulled up in our shcemtics list when we open gthe crafting tool
