Thread: Things that could possibly be ahead for Tailors

From my meanderings in the Testing wastelands I've been thinking of what might be 'replacements' for the lack of decay:

First and foremost I am thinking they will probably offset the missing Decay with more clothing options to make. This is nice and will stem the problem some but eventually we will run into the same issue of Tailoring being a sort of ‘extras’ class with lackluster appreciation for use at best.

I have also been reading some fabulous suggestions on the boards for ways to make use of our now defunct pool of experimentation points So here are a compilation of ideas and a few of my own:

Add element resistance to clothing, not a whole lot but could increase and decrease with experimentation. A good set of thermal underwear should help against cold damage while some of our more nomadic gear or reflective can help against heat attacks. Reinforced armor could give nominal bonus against Kinetics while rubber suits could help against energy fire. You get the idea. Plus the resistance in the resources used could be factored in as well. Never as good as armor but a nice alternative for the stylish dancer or merchant that doesn't want to wear that bulky gear in the field but wants at least a little protection. Silk protected its wearer from piecing attacks in days of old, why not now?

Experimentation unlocks more color choices for our more 'starved' pallets. Say that if you get your leather item over a certain percent quality you can dye more colors to it.

Special Effects. Perhaps experimentation could yield an unlock to various special effects that could be added to the gear, like shimmering, particles, special colors like oil slick opal or tie-dye. Perhaps even unlock a 3rd color.

Schematics that unlock with either quests or experimentation by perhaps having the option to try and create new look or something - experimenting on a grand twilek headpiece and try to tailor it for a human to unlock a human version of the same article of clothing, for example.

That’s all I can think of/remember!

Another idea is something for sockets. Maybe instead of just letting us have sockets, why not let us pick if we want to keep the sockets or use it to 'infuse' the clothing with something like more BE stuff.

IE: Oh lookie 4 sockets! lets take socket 1 & 2 and drop some nice advanced camoflage there. now for 3 lets add that bleed resit and for 4 lets leave open so in case they find somethign they want to put in there they can.

I like the idea of special effects on clothing based on experimentation and dye kits. I spoke to a CSR about these types of things a couple of weeks back. The concern is that the economy will be flooded with clothes by the time these types of things are coded in.

It's good to see an optimistic post today.

All good ideas but I won't hold my breath. The decay thing was like a shot in the foot point blank range with a cannon. I am only on my 3rd tier of skills and was looking forward to hitting master but now . . . what's the point, the people who have powered their way up and are already there are the only ones who will get a chance to realy have fun. There's no point in making things when there are arlready hundreds out there to stay. Now yes if they gave us SOMETHING to experiment with and some way to make our clothes unique that would make things a little better but still people are going to have to be destryoing at a crazy rate comming soon because there will be no room for all the indestructable clothes that are out there. I hate to be pessimistic but I'm not at master so I don't get to use the new colors, none of the bugged palates are fixed and there is still no preview for necklaces. They've thrown us a chicken bone then dropped an a-bomb on us.

PS Sorry for the dark post, had a migrane today and this was not what I needed to recover to.

Though the lack of decay (for now) is a blow to the profession, I hang on to optimism like this.
