Ahhh right on, that makes sense. I see people all the time braging about how'cool' their charlooks. I wonder if MOBs really care.

I have a head turban thing thats yellow so I think that means its sloted. When I examine the item it doesnt have any extra stats. I have been unable to remove whatevers in the slot, is that at all possible to do? What determines if something is sloted? Luck? Schematic? Resources used? Skill of crafter? Can only taylors add the enchancements to the clothes? How can you see what the enchancements do after they are inserted?

Thanks again for feedback.

Yup, colored clothing names indicates sockets.

When I examine the item it doesnt have any extra stats.

This means that while it has sockets, no Skill Tape Enhancements (STEs) have been added yet.

I have been unable to remove whatevers in the slot, is that at all possible to do?

No, you cannot remove a STE once it's been placed in a socket.

What determines if something is sloted? Luck? Schematic? Resources used? Skill of crafter?

Tailors skill vs the complexity of the item. Meaning higher level tailors can put more sockets on more items. A few items are bugged and never get sockets.

Can only taylors add the enchancements to the clothes?

No, anyone can drop a STE into a socket, merely drop the STE onto the socketed item. Tailors can also "sew in" enhancements using Bio-Engineered cloth tissues, but that's still an "emerging science" (read, it's broken and being changed eventually)

How can you see what the enchancements do after they are inserted?

When you Example the item, if it's had any STEs added to any sockets it will display the skill mods for you.

Ha. Right on. That's some darn good info, thanks. I have some skill enhancements in the bank, both the type that look like tape and the type that look like armor segments or whatever. I take it the tape type are for clothes and the link type are for armor?\

Thanks again.

Supposed to be, but I'm unsure if anyone's found a use for the armor plate ones yet.

Yes. The mobs do care what you wearand it is very beneficial to you to wear fancy clothes on a hunt as when you do they stop and say "**edit**! That's a nice outfit" before proceeding to attempt to decapitate you, thus giving you time to start running and shooting or swinging.

Note you can get the maximum number of slots (4) on the cheapest, ugliest clothing available. So yeah, the expensive stuff just makes you look better.

Bioengineer enhancements only work on mid-range clothing; the item must use synthetic cloth or reinforced fiber panels, but it can't use the factory identical versions that most of the top-tier items require. BE enhancements include bleed resistance, warcry/intimidate bonus, dance bonuses, healing bonuses, cover bonuses and maskscent bonuses. There is no evidence that any of them work yet, beyond modifying your skill display, but some people swear by them.

It could also mean that the person who made it knows how to change the color of item texts at the naming screen. I've seen crafted items with rainbow names. If you examine the item, it will list the number of sockets.

finer more intricate looks and deeper colours are the hallmark of higehr end items. Also, more skilled tailors can have a greater chance of having the item turn out socketed, which is a benefit. In fact, socjeted clothing can be used by anyone (i.e. anyone can drag and drop a clothing styles skill enhancer into their sockets) while armor must have the armor skill enhancers woven in by the smith.

Remember, though, if you are quibbling over prices, that higher end items consume alot of resources, often rare and specific as well as items requiring the use of factories.

Low level tailors who haven't gained the tailoring experimentation tree won't produce as many sockets, if any. I've also heard the quality of the materials factors into the frequency of sockets popping up, I must admit I have better results with quality materials which I always try to use anyway
