Thread: Non-Tailor calling for clothing decay!

After reading some of theresponses I have to agree...this IS my fight! Mine and every non-tailor that want's to see tailoring flourish in this game. Clothing options lend uniqueness to otherwise similar character avatars. I stated earlier that I like my characters look and don't see a need to change it. If my clothes wear out I definately see that need. With the new color options who knows? I may find something I like. New patterns to come (I am sure there will be) would interest me as well. None of that does me any good if Tailors become as rare a Wompa on Tatooine or charge an outrageous amount of credits to make up for lagging sales.

If weapons didn't degrade I wouldn't have a slicing clientele for long. If spice could be reused how fast would I sell Neutron Pixie? My pets even degrade over time thanks to vitality loss (I'm going to miss George, my Alpha Veermok, when he has to be put out to pasture). I understand wherethe tailors are coming from on this one. Myself and many others are definately behind you.

First off I am not a tailor, in fact I'm not even a crafter, but I do understand that in order to sell items in this game people have to have a need to replace them. I thought that something was wrong from the beginning as I have had the same two outfits (made by a tailor friend of mine) since quite early in the game. I am satisfied with the look and have no desire to change it. With this being said, there is positivleyno incentivefor me to purchase new clothes from a tailor. I don't think I am very different from the average player in this.

There have been many excellant examples on this forum reagarding the need for decay and I will recap a couple of them below:

1. Weapons degrades: I like my sliced FWG, I like it alot. If it did not degrade over time I would'nt consider replacing it unless I certified in a new weapon. Unless something gets added to the Dirty Fighting tree this won't happen any time soon.

2. Armor degrades: Personally I dont wear armor for this reason and the staggaring impact on my HAM. For those that do, it is the need to replace it that keeps armorsmiths in business.

3. Houses/harvesters/factories/etc require maintnence: This may seem somewhat unrelated at first glance, however, it is a money sink. As Holo is fond of reminding us, this game is in need of additional money sinks.

I know that, being a Smuggler/CH,this really isn't my fight. Thanks tomy current professions (no regrets mind you) I am quite used to sweeping class changes. Something like this decay issue carries a significant impact to Tailoring as a merchant class and should definately be reconsidered.

At a minimum I am curious as to the 'overwhelming feedback' that started all this. Coulda Devdistill those arguments into a thread?

see, but i think it's your fight as much as it is ours, since, rather than saying "we can't fix the decay issue so we're going to remove it for now", they are placing the blame squarely on the rest of the community.

by saying "due to overwhelming community response" (none of which 90% of the people here have ever seen) they are saying that you (maybe not YOU you, but you) the non tailors are directly responsible, and that we should all hate you!

it seems to me that they went this route rather than make the clothing decay actually do something, simply because they never took that final step, either due to lack of knowledge or desire, and made items that decay to 0 disappear like they should. if it's unrepairable, it should be gone - simple as that.

because of that fact, clothing decaying to 0 would mean nothing since it'll still be there, it'll just say 0/1000 for the condition - big deal. so rather than go that extra step and risk offending the combat classes (because it's pretty **edit** obvious that some of the crafting classes are an afterthought) they decide to risk offending maybe 1% of the playerbase. god forbid they actually follow thru with their word.

Every time tailors bring up the issue of decay with me, I always say "yeah, they really need to fix that so you'll have some repeat business."

I, too, am disappointed. It appears SOE pulled the "we'll shake your hand while we stab you in the back" routine by giving you 55 new colors and taking away a feature that you really needed even more.

I know I certainly wasn't part of that "overwhelming feedback."

Hi all, I'd like to start by saying that I'm not a tailor, but I do believe clothing should decay. Not as fast as armor or weapons decay, but they should decay. That being said, I remember seeing a post by Holo yesterday where he said that they may change the insurance/cost of death system to remove corpse runs altogether. The new system he suggested would make it so that if you didn't insure your items, they would decay everytime your character was incapped (even items that don't normally decay, like clothes). Anyway, this may be a small consolation (and I personally don't think its enough - there should be a natural clothing decay in my opinion), but itshould help you sell more clothes if it gets implemented. Thanks for reading.

Yes.. it IS your fight. The patch message said that it was changed due to popular demand. The popular demand did *NOT* come from tailors... Tailors weren't even ASKED! Not only that... the request to have it fixed was our NUMBER 1 ISSUE.

So the blame lies on our customers. This nerf affects both Tailors, Architects, AND Armorsmiths. It wasn't just a case of penny-pinching non-tailors... it's turned into a game altering issue that prevents good armor from being created too!
