Thread: Tailors & Architects: No Decay Kills Our Business

The Architect Correspondent has boycotted testing with the Test Server since they aren't giving architects any fixes and aren't listening to his problems. The Tailor Correspondent has quit because the devs obviously aren't listening or even looking at her hard work.

Architects are in and have been in since the beginning, the same boat tailors now find themselves in. Our structures, which take days sometimes to build, do not decay. Experimentation doesn't even work for us to make our structures different from each other, not even in how they perform. And it does look like the devs just don't care. You really have to wonder.

They mention in the patch notes that the overwhelming majority of people on the forums wanted decay to be taken off tailor items. Who were these people and what forum were they on? I doubt they were in the tailor forum......

You'll find after no decay people will buy your items. Then they will never talk to you again. Or they will buy a couple items, or a trickle of them. They don't need anymore, because the items never decay! I can't believe the same developers who wanted an offline based decay are now taking decay out of every profession they can get their hands on. I wonder if these ARE the same developers, because we have no way of knowing.

Know this, fellow artisans and crafters. A majority of architects stand with you in this regard. Decay is essential to the continuation of any crafter skill, period. If nothing ever goes away, who needs a new one?

I am certain there was overwhelming desire for non-decay. Im sure if you asked them if they wanted to remove weapon decay, all maintainence fees and hit point wounds they'd all say the same. Not having clothing decay ruins the tailoring profession.

if the concern is the loss of enhancers, fear not, just create a way for tailors to remove enhancers from clothes with used up sockets. that would add to the profession. This, as it stands, ruins it.

The same thing applies to droids, at least to an extent.

Yes, we can make the seekers and probe droids for bounty hunters - but it really is barely worth the time.

Reports are that there is no permanent HAM loss for a destroyed droid - I haven't checked this myself yet, but if so, then a probot will be immortal, and never wear out.

Currently, with the way things stand, medics will buy one surgical droid, ever. Same applies to mobile crafting stations, etc.

So, DE's are heading towards the same place.

I made a post with a time/use based fix to the problems of DE's, tailors and architects on the main boards. Unfortunately, I didn't name it "Nerf Chefs" or something like that, but rather, used the words "constructive" and "solution" in the title - so it fell right off page one with a quickness.

Please check it out at:

and if you like it, or don't like it, add to the ideas, or introduce your own.

I agree. This about kills it for me. Players are going around laughing that tailoring is easy money and now you can even use crappy components to make clothes. Why have Decay Resistance on ore? It doesn't mean anything anymore?

I took pride in what clothing I sold. I even posted the durability of every item. I would go to all the planets to be sure that I had the best of everything. Now there is no competitive spirit at all. Just crank it out with crap. It doesn't matter. Well, it has mattered alot to me. It is my pride as a tailor that has been damaged by this.

I also ask, who is this vast majority? I have never seen them around? The tailors have always wanted it. Decay was what Star Wars Galaxies was all about from the very beginning. It was what was going to keep the crafters working and in business. Without decay, who needs to buy clothes anymore except for maybe a fashion statement.

Currently in my town of Theed, there are tons of newbie tailors. I trained 5 people yesterday. There are also 4 masters. Competition is tough but I was doing o.k. I had been looking forward to decay because then I would stand out above the rest by selling quality clothes. Now I wonder if I even want to be a Tailor anymore. And if I am not a Tailor which is what I wanted to be since the beginning of the game as far back as Beta, then what should I do? Mindless killing which I got my belly full of in Everquest? No....if this isn't corrected, I guess it will be time to move on and find a game that does support clothing decay and show some REAL promise for crafters because Star Wars Galaxies is becomming a real letdown.

Devs! I challenge you to produce this "Vast Majority" of players you talked about? Everything should decay if you don't pay maintence to keep it up. It should be that way for everything. This move is totally wrong!

I also see this as a "Dev Copout" so not they don't have to try to code clothing repair neither. Hey, why don't they all just take a nice vacation and let it all go. This was going to be such a cool game. And all I see now is it going down the drain.
