It's random though I do personally think skills might effect it. Not greatly, just push up the overall percentages a little.

This started on the Intrepid trade forums - but I want further clarification

2 people are stating that a CA with 3 stats IE.

+1 melee
+2 pistol
+3 entertainment healing

THat such a CA would take up 3 slots, if so when was the code change?

In my experience such a CA only takes up 1 socket.

Help from the tailors would be appreciated.

Yes it will take up 3 sockets (if there are 3 free sockets on the garment).

It was changed with the CU.

There's a new Clothing attachment guide which is linked to the "PLEASE READ THIS FIRST" post stickied above. It should be helpful if you have more complex skill tape issues.

So, as a crafter, I like my sockets. Lots. Can't get enough of 'em. But this raises a question for me:

How many sockets are possible in my 'fringe' items?

I used vendor search, found a large headwrap, pair of sandals, some work gloves, and a simple vest that I liked, and started up a bit of chitchat with a tailor with a particular item w/ 4 sockets. (not the oneitem I wanted) Tipped them rather generously, I thought, (100k)and asked for 4 sockets in each, please.Ten minutes later,I was told that they were not recieving these sockets, had tried 15 times or so on each, and would need to try again tomorrow. I'm in no great hurry, but I wouldn't want to drive them towards the impossible.... Am I being too demanding?

The 4 sockets are possible, but it is random. Sometimes you get lucky enough to get 4 sockets on the first try and sometimes it may take you 50+ tries for it. I had a really bad streak on sockets for the deco vest a little while ago, and since then I have yet to get another 4 socket vest. I have made over 200 vests and still not a single one with 4 sockets. I know that is not the norm for it to be that many without a 4 socket, and luckily nothing else is giving me that trouble. Just wanted to let you know that it can take sometime to get the 4 sockets on each piece.

Sockets are mean!

If they are a master tailor is not impossible but it can be highly annoying, especially if you know you have to log out in x number of minutes.

If they are somewhere between novice and tailoring IV then it may be impossible for them to get 4 sockets on tailor items. I can't remember if you need tailoring IV or master to get 4 sockets to appear but if they have neither then you have set them an impossible challenge (at least until they gain those levels).

Its a good thing you are not in a hurry If you have the patience to let the tailor get on with it and don't feel the need to ask them every 5 minutes if your order is finished, then no, you are not being too demanding

Am I offering enough for this set of items then?

And does my tailor not being a master yet affect her ability to make w/ 4 sockets?

Sorry, I don't know enough about Ahazi pricing to answer that one.

Personally, I'd be happy with that much, but I don't normally charge extra for 4 sockets (depends on how annoying the customer is).

Some tailors have a '4-socket tax', some expect payment for the failed attempts, it really depends on the tailor

It's about what I sell a 60k resource starship for. I'd call it decently fair, especially considering that I'm encouraging and paying for a grind, along with paying for a bunch of stock. But that's just me.

100k is more than enough. Today I had a request for a 4 socketed deco vest.....it took me 15 tries, but I did it. In a scenerio like that, I do not demand an enflated price. Mainlybecuase I can just sell the ones with less sockets on the bazzar. So it is only the time spent in crafting that comes into question. I would charge 2k for the vest, and an extra 10k for the time. But of course you tip what you think is fair.

However, sometimes it can be a bit frustrating doing the same thing over and over again with no results. I don't think you are being too demanding, but remember to have patience. There is nothing worse than a pushy buyer.

Pushy buyer? For tailored goods?

You've never dealt with some of these pilots.

"I don't know what I want or how to fly it, but what you made sucks."

"Want your money back? You can have all the stuff I just crafted off the cuff for free, but I want the really good stuff you apparently don't know how to use."

"Oh. Uh.... Wait. No, I don't mean that. Uh.... Hold on here. Yeah, never mind. I'll figure it out."

Argh.

And it all takes 2k+ of the best resources ever to spawn.
