Whenever I open my datapad or start my crafting tool for the first time in a play session, I'm pretty much guaranteed to crash to desktop unless I'm standing perfectly still and don't try doing anything while the whole mess is loading up for at least 30 seconds to a minute. And it only happens on my tailor which leads me to believe that it's an issue with the insane number of schematics we now have.

This can get very annoying when I'm riding my bike, pull up my datapad to get a waypoint, and crash to desktop because my computer is overwhelmed with suddenly loading in 200ish schematics. Today, I booted my crafting tool for the first time (hadn't opened my datapad in that play session) and attempted to craft something. I crashed, because I hadn't waited the requisite time.

Now, this only happens the first time I load the datapad, and after that I have no problems. So the obvious solution is to load up my datapad once, while standing perfectly still holding my breath, and then I should have no further problems. But, dangit, I don't want to do that! I want to boot up my tool and go!

Is this happening to anyone else?

This never happened Pre-JTL which is why I suspect it's the extra 100 or so schematics in there that pushed my system over the edge.

I used to freeze for about 2 minutes when I opened my crafting tool or datapad for the first time in a play session, but it never caused me to crash.

The problem cleared up for me a few months ago. The solution was either more memory, turning off downloads on the iBook, or something in game, I don't know which, sorry

I don't crash no, but it takes forever for my crafting tool/datapad to load the first time.. same with my shop/resource house everytime it loads.. can take a while. I have 1gig of memory, so it can't be that... lol

Periodically my game will freeze for a minute or two when I open my crafting tool (or access the schematics section of my datapad) for the first time during a playsession, but I haven't had a CTD in quite a while. Never from opening a crafting tool.

Yes! I've always wondered if this happened to anyone besides me. I used to crash all the time. I've since gotten a new computer, so I don't crash anymore, but I do freeze for about a minute. It's so annoying, and sometimes I don't even want to open the crafting tool, so I'll just wait until the next day.

The problem is that I don't FREEZE - my computer just makes angry noises. If I were to freeze, I would be unable to anger my computer further by crafting/moving etc. When I used to freeze, I would never crash. But since I'm not actually freezing anymore, I am perfectly capable of doing such things that cause me to crash.

Lesson: open the tool and touch nothing.

during JTL and shortly afterwords this was a very common problem for me, but I do know that something changed and and it hasn't happened since.

I can pop my tools with droid in cnet with a bubble of lag but no CTD now.

I cannot by any means say exactly when it was, but it has been quite a few months now since I had CTD problems from it.

But I was like you, I would load in stare at at floor open datapad hit schem and wait until every single one loaded in.

I have not CTD, however I have had extreme sluggishness and latency trouble doing it on numerous occasions. Yes I have bugged it in game.

It seems to happen most often when in my shop when one of the following occurs:

1) I have the email open at the same time. ( I like to do this so that I can craft what has sold )

This most often happens when the email is open before opening the crafting tool, less likely to occur if the crafting tool is opened then the email.

2) A Jedi is using forcecloak within 200m of where I am crafting ( This has come close to kicking me off....my shop is outside Theed and Jedi tend to cloak on the way to it if they can ...and cloak when they leave ).
