Thread: Schematics dropped as loot!
As said by Thunderheart just a bit ago:
"We agree. This is in the works. Loot is going to be upgraded, Theme Park loot is being upgraded and quest loot is being upgraded. Loot drops as crafting components and schematics are being added."
This makes me one very happy tailor indeed, although I know very well that those schematics might end up not being for new and interesting garments. Still...a spark of hope is better than none at all!
A bit more from TH:
"Again, you folks are right on which is why this change isn't happening at a quicker pace. Different kinds of loot and dropshave to be made seperate from the crafter-related items, quest items and Theme Park items. Unique items, decoration items, limited-use schematics and other stuff is being included."
So maybe, just maybe, these won't be drops that are simply impossible to get for folks who don't have the points for an elite weapon class... I wonder how long I can keep all my fingers crossed.
I remember stumbling across a static quest that wanted me to deliver the materials to a dress maker so he could make some kind of special wedding dress. It had me go to a few different places around Naboo. In the end I didn't get anything but credits, but wouldn't it have been cool if the end NPC had shared his dress design with me in the form a schematic reward? I think it would be real simple to incorporate this kind of thing into the game. Make the quest static so it forces us to interact with some of the NPCs around the game. It would be a suprise what we were going to get each time.
We've all seen several clothing items around the game that we can't make yet. I seen an apron on an NPC in Kor Vella (sp?), numerous hooded cloaks on random NPCs, and don't get me started on the uber sweet stuff the Night Sisters wear.
You could also incorporate faction into these things. Some quests may only spawn for people with positive faction for Jabba or maybe Borvo. It would give faction a little more meaning to those of us that aren't battle inclinded.
Anyway, enough of my yammering. You've all heard these ideas before I'm sure, but I just think they are really good ones.

Thanks for posting this. This certainly has the potential to be a huge addition to the game. One thing those is that of course schematics require extremely specific ingredients/components to create, so I wonder how that would work?
I've been doing Jabba the Hut missions recently and the rewards have been hilarious. A bunch of worthless knives, a CDEF gun (a really bad one too), a rank sash, a loaf of bread (?), and lots of other curious and worthless items. I don't even care if the items we get aren't something uber or whatever, just give us at least something we can put in our houses that looks cool at the very least.
The Imperial themepark did have some cool clothing items at least, but of course as a master tailor it's kind of a slap in the face. As I recall I got some high quality boots and a robe of honor that actually had a fairly nice colorfrom those missions, lol.
I will be very disappointed if new schematics are loot based off of MOBs you kill. I was slow entering the world of crafting in SWG, because I wanted to confirm that the annoyance for crafters from other games did not exist. That annoyance was the dependency placed upon crafters to be adventurers either to afford their craft or to get drops they need.
i would be thrilled to get schematics/components from quests that I could do as a crafter.

I would think the schematics should be like any other that we earn as our characters earn different boxes which is very different than the factory schematics that we can create. Factory schematics are very specific and you have to use exactly what the tailor used when crafting them. This isn't the type of schematic we are talking about. We just mean the regular kind that might require some form of resources or tailor made components.
If this is something that really interests alot of people then please post and keep this post going. We have to show the Devs that this is something that really interests us.

I remember them opening the question of new loot drops up on either the development or discussion forum a while ago, and I was amazed by the masses of combat classes who were hugely in favour of decorations for their houses: rugs, paintings, anything other than that same old Grunda painting.. *laughs* I'm sincerely hoping they paid attention to that.
