I am crafting in tailoring now...I am a novice tailor, however I am only getting exp. from a Workman's belt, anything else I make it isn't giving me any experience is this a bug or the way that Tailoring is?

Make sure you are crafting novice tailor items. You won't get tailoring experience from crafting soft undershirts and other domestic arts items - those are general crafting xp.
