I'm just wondering if anyone had held for taken part in a tailor contest on their server?

It all started with some pvp between the SEF and Black, I have no combat skills so I joked that if they held a tailoring contest I'd kick their a$$es LoL

But now they want to actually hold a contest! So HELP please!!

Perhaps the best course of action would be to have the competition based on themes...

Uniforms, starwars lookalikes, characters outside starwars... that sort of thing.

My guild held a similar fashion type competition. We simply had a few categories... best dresses (formal) - representation of a profession - lookalike - worst dressed (uggg... painful to watch ), that sort of thing. Although none of us were tailors at the time, it was a fun event and some of the elements can probably be applied to a tailoring contest.

For my money, the best way to prove a tailor's salt is to take one of the less human-looking races (Bothan, Rodian, Mon Cal, even Twi'lek) and craft an outfit for him or her that's "pretty" or "cool" or "rugged" - whatever. Then you need one or more judges - maybe the just the model, or some other set of impartial judges if you can agree on how to select them. It could be as simple as pulling someone out of a cantina or some place (maybe you could make a newbie's day and give them some free clothes out of the deal) and making something for him or her and letting that person decide which outfit he/she likes best. The judging could be based on such things as how well it goes with the natural skin tones (no small feat for some races!) and body shape, how well it fits the style, and maybe overall look. That's kind of general, but it's just an idea.

That would be rough. I had a teal-ish rodian asking me for a Doctor's dress today. He wanted the teal for the robe, and white for the apron. I had to inform him of our colour-challenged palette. He also wanted a 2nd one that was the sea-green of his frills, with the creme-grey of his nose for the apron part. Wow, I thought I was going to get flayed for incompetance, but he accepted no teal on those clothes, and actually liked the colour match I got. I used a top-blue #5/white for the first, and Light green #4/some-kind-of-creme for the second dress.

Doing stuff like that would be an effort, and definately worthy of a master tailor. I think client satisfaction should also count on the final score.

Say they should score 40% for style, 40% for colours, and 20% for customer satisfaction.

You could maybe do "Iron Tailor" - model it off "Iron Chef." The tailors would be making a specific outfit for a specific customer, and have certain requirements - maybe something really specific, like a costume, or general, like "something to dance in." Or, like "Iron Chef," you might have a "required ingredient," which might get tough - like, "The outfit must include a Reinforced Pullover" would be quite a challenge!

I never have, but it could definnitely be fun. The closest thing that I've heard of to this was that I seem to remember a big fashion show way back last summer/early fall on Vreni (sp?) Island on Bria. I wasn't able to attend but it sounded like a pretty big event.

This game definitely needs more "player driver content" like this. I hope it works out well for you!

How about instead of saying the outfit has to inlude an item, saying that each piece of the outfit must use a common resource? Some items would have to be exluded depending on the secret resource/component. There isn't a shoe or glove that uses RFPs for instance.
