Thread: Looking to get into Tailoring and set up a good business on Euro Infitity with other tailors

I've just made Master Artisan and I would really like to get into tailoring as my profession of choice.

What I'd like most of all is to set up a flourishing business with other tailors so that we all have a single outlet that always has loads of good stock.

I'm on the Euro Infinity sever and there seems to be a niche for exactly that, even outside busy Coronet.

It would be good to start out with other noobs but I know it's imperative that we get a few masters too so that we can learn the finer points of the profession.

Basically, I need in-game guidance and a means for making cash. Is there anyone willing to come on board? Or am I just being young and niave?

Young and naive I think, lol. What you are proposing will be extremely difficult. Most artisans are very "territorial". They don't like being in the same area or guild, much less the same building as other artisans of the same profession. And you're going to have all kinds of logistical problems in terms of who sells what at what price.

I think business partnerships are great, they can help you a lot, but I'd suggest partnering with other types of artisans rather than other tailors.

No offence but I like working alone, I've spent months working to get my clothing boutique well known and loved and now its all that and more I feel *I* have really achieved something

I have no interest in combat at all, and don't even own a gun anymore, so for me to do well in a game like this is a big deal to me.

I can understand where you're coming from Kel. I've read other posts from you and by the looks of it, you're very established and very, very busy. What about having novices work for you? You could do the glamour work and push out the grunt stuff to your apprentices. It would give new tailors a chance to earn extra cash with a well reputed tailor while they grind up to Master.

The other post makes good sense too. Luckily I got an invite into the Crystal Lake city last night and the mayor said I can run a vendor at their local Mall. Hopefully, as the city grows I'll get increased sales.

The great shame for me is that for some reason Tailors are incredibly hard to come by and are too busy to spend time with novices. To me, it's one of the few professions where actual in-game experience is just as important as going up the skill tree.

The thing is, why would I want to have novice tailors working for me?

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against other tailors, novice or master, and I'm happy to train others and share advice whenever they need it, but I make clothing because I love making clothing. If I was to delegate some items of clothing to other tailors then I'm not making them myself, and knowing that each and every item in my vendor was created by myself is very important to me.

Maybe I am a weird obsessive player, but there is something special about the fact that I am selling something I have enjoyed making and something I have worked hard to be able to make. When I see a customer wearing something I have made for them it really does make me happy (yeah ok, so I AM a weird obsessive), its my work and I am proud of it.

And the end of the day I am busy because I want to be busy, I enjoy the 'grunt' work, as you put it and I couldn't put it on anyone else without feeling 'dimished'. Its not the easiest thing to put into words but I hope you can see my side of things.

Good luck in Crystal Lake

I don't think it's such a bad idea Although I'm Master I workalongside withanother master tailor for/with another hugelywell established tailor or lowca. We have a mall, everyweek we get orders from the 'boss' tailor, custom orders get sent our way, we can buy cheap resources from her,and she hires novices for smallerweeklyorders. We've thrown a raffle where prizestotaledaround 4million, it'sreally fun.Shame you're not on Lowca because we need more freelance novicetailors. Don't give up hope!!

I don't think it's such a bad idea either. I actually considered partnering with another tailor (a novice would have worked) because I was tired of trying to keep my vendor stocked and still have fun playing the game with one of my alts. Frankly we all know that black *whatever* sells best, and usually not the master items. I've been tailoring since the beginning of July, and frankly the "Make me look cool" stuff doesn't excite me any more. So, I had thought of asking another tailor to join me. The big problem? All of my SWG life my clothes have been tagged with my name (by Ri'a). I considered starting up a new brand name, and then getting rid of the stock of "by Ri'a" clothes I had. But then I'd have to change all the displays in my shop, etc. So, there went that idea.

In the beginning I'd have been way too "possesive" to share my business, but now I would. Back in the day it meant something to be one of the few master tailors on your planet. Now there are 60 vendors on the world map, and you get lost in the crowd. Unless you are advertisting heavily and a full-time tailor..

But anyhow, I don't think it's ahorrid idea at all.
