Hello tailor community,

I want to make my alt into an ID/Tailor to get away from the combat and the crafting with high quality resources and was thinking that these two professions would be a good path of escape...

So is tailor fun? what are your impressions?

any comments or insight is appreciated..

Thank you

It's fun for a while, but you don’t make much cash at it, and after the fun of making all the clothes is past I think it's a bit on the boring side.

For me it is fun. I've been a tailor since launch and master since October. I would agree that there is a lull after everything has been made....but then again.....its really fun to create different outfits using different colors and themes. For me its a blast, even when I am bored with it. naturally we all want more clothing schematics....but the wait is worth it in my book.

Now that i have finally reached master i'm doing a lot more custom orders, and so far, that has only increased my fun factor. The interaction w/ other players reminds a bit of the fun i used to have in cantinas when i was a musician, before the afk hologrinders.

Working my way up to tailor w/o using any macro grinding was a bit ofa chore, but in my opinion was highly worth it.

I've made a ton of cash with tailoring. Yes, it's lots of fun and a great creative outlet. I do have to skip out and play with my dancer character on a regular basis because the customer demands on a tailor can sometimes get to ya.

Depends on the person, some would find it boring, some may find it fun, its the 'least' challenging of crafting proffessions, but for that reason it allows more customer interaction rather than factory runs and a vendor which most other proffessions crafting system tends to encourage.

I dont know why but im just addicted to vendors and merchant in general, i like to have 'everything' on my vendors in every colour too, and i restock things that sell as fast as i can For that Tailor seems just the most fun in general.

Well it depends on what kind of tailor you want tobe too. If you like dealing with people it's a very good choice, if you don't and just enjoy a well stocked vendor it is one too, but any other crafting profession would work as well really, except that you don't have to bother with the resource search of the other ones. All in all, it's very time consuming, and the profit isn't great at all.

Actually Songe, not to be a smart-***, but the profit is tremendous for a tailor. Profit implies the amount of money made vs. the expense put out. If you harvest your own resources, the only expenses a tailor has comes from maintainence for miners, vendors, and a shop. The real problem is that clothing is not nearly as expensive as armor, weaspons, houses, or droids, so we make less than the other crafting professions.

Last month i spent 88k on being a tailor, i made 213,300 in revenue, my total profit for the month was 125,300. Now, for other crafters that is close to the profit of selling one item, but for what i spent on the month, that's actually a very good return.

You will make money as a tailor, the only problem is you will not make it over night. Just takes some stick-with-it-ness, knowing your community, maintaining a healthy stock of items for folks to choose from, and being available/knowable for answering questions and consultations.

It's a blast! I mastered tailor on my 'main' (I always play 2 characters in games, one that is like me & one that is completely rp of a different personality) in early September. I had a wonderful time keeping a shop and gathered a rather large clientelle, many of whom have become friends beyond the tailoring. I dropped tailoring a few months ago to return to dance (my first profession..yup..mastered it twice..my sanity is questionable). Within a month I had missed tailoring so much that I decided to re-arrange my 2nd character and master on him as well. Esharra is TKM/MDancer now and Carenzi is Master Tailor, Architect and Artisan with a bit of merchant thrown in to keep the vendors going.

I've seen a lot of players do very well financial with tailoring and of course, many who've not done so well. Those who succeed tend to be outgoing, social, 'helper' type personalities. It takes a bit ofpatience to sit for a while going thru a few options with a customer when all he could express was he wanted to 'look cool but different'. One thing that has helped me maintain my patience level is by keeping regular "in the shop" times and asking people to please e-mail their order when I'm not in the shop or make an appointment, kindly discouraging any insistents that I drop everything and tend to them immediately. If I'm on Esh at the time, I explain that I've retired from tailoring and they should contact Carenzi. Time management is great damage control for your sanity.

My shop is in a great high-traffic location in a frequently visited player city. I have 3 vendors: BE Clothingwith between 80-100 pieces, Fine Apparel with 200-300 and Shoes and Accessories with 100-200 items. Well-stocked vendors will keep customers happy and that's your best advertisement. I don't advertise, btw, my partner advertised once and it got totally out of control!

I highly recommend the tailor profession for anyone who wants to try a fun and creative game play with a lot of social interaction. I hope you enjoy it too. Good luck!

Well I can make 125k in one hour with my fencer alt, so I guess everything is relative. I still stick to tailor because I enjoy it, but I will prolly not stick to it forever because it's a lot of work for a ridiculous profit, and we are not getting anything new.

I agree that tailor is fun, if you "tailor" it to suit your playstyle. I enjoy the face-to-face customer interaction. I enjoy keeping well-stocked vendors. I enjoy doing mail orders and on-the-fly waiting at the shuttleport orders. I do not enjoy the "r u coming?" drop whatever you were busy doing and come to me now customers though.

I recently movedout my large Tatooine house/shop which was elaborately decorated, etc., and moved into a merchant tent near my city's shuttleport. Business boomed! I've beenunable to play much at alllatelydue to RL, and popping in-game barely long enough to keep mails cleared out, but even so, I made 1.5 million this week off just vendor sales. Outlay for the month was only 400k. Average sales per weekhave been100k. No idea why this last week was such a big leap in sales. I do not advertise other than listed on the global map. I do not sell BE clothes and none of those sales were quest schem items either.

But yeah, Tailor can be tons of fun.

I'm with you on this one Mystyrys, business as been insane this week. I have almost doubled my best month in just the last 3-4 days. I barely have time to restock my vendors each night. Glad to hear this is occuring on another server and to another tailor, started to get worried that my prices were to low.

Oh no! I have been away on a business trip this week and I haven't been able to play at all! I hope that business is still good when I get back.
