Overview
July has been the best month so far. Sales of components and BE items have been a main staple of the business. This month I decided to try some suggestions that I read on these forums and I want to thank all of you for those great ideas.
First thing I did was to redo my naming system for all items. I name all items now with: [color] item name [socket #] -By A'Srai's Fashions . For example: Lilac Twi'lek Lekku Wrap 3skts -By A'Srai's Fashions. Right now I am having mixed feelings on this naming system. I may start to drop the socket numbers and put the color behind the item name and come up with a shorter label. Some item names get very long and don't seem to sell as well. I also find that people looking for certain items are giving up after the 2nd or 3rd page on my vendors.
Which brings me to the second thing I did this month, Stocking! I spent nearly the first half of the month making every single item in at least 6-8 different colors. Some of the more highly requested items I did several of in even more colors. While this has given my customers more variety, I am seeing a dramatic drop off of custom orders. It is also caused me to start to burn out on stocking. I think this month I will cut back on the number of items to stock, and keep it to only the more popular items.
Thirdly, this month was the first time I post a vendor listing on my galaxy trade forum. I hadover two dozen emails and tells within a few hours requesting special orders. A couple of those has turn into some very great customers that repeatedly come back now with their friends.

Final Thoughts
The numbers look good and my business is growing better than I could have dreamed. Architech sales still tend to be my bread & butter, but those sales are falling. I also am debating on keeping Architech much longer. The resource requirements, factory run times, and harvester chasing is really taxing. I could free up about 50 items from my store and another 75 items from my warehouse by dropping it (Victoria, if you need anymore things, better tell me now
)
Military Wear items tend to also be the best seller, but the least profit. Black boots, gloves, dusters, shirts and pants have been making a roaring come back despite my best efforts to dress these guys in some COLOR!
Good Luck to all of you out there, and Happy Selling!

Glad your month was such a success
The key is to find a balance between stocking and custom orders that works for you. It's good that you're able to assess the situation and figure out that you'd rather do more custom orders than stock an obscene amount of colors

Looks excellent! It's fun to see how your business changes as you try new things. And to track your progress.
I've been doing that massively stocking in several colors thing for a long time now, but mostly for the purpose of reducing custom orders because my free time to play has been sharply reduced from when I first opened my shop. The system works well for me. I don't do BE clothes at all, but I do well enough to suit my needs and still have fun doing it too. I recently downloaded Merchant's Friend. Still trying to figure out how to filter by just the dates I want. And how to save to text file only the data I want. *keeps poking the MF prog to see what it will do next*

Too bad MF can't track sales done via the secure trade window. I made some huge sales on custom orders this month so my total sales numbers aren't truly accurate. Hmm.

Glad to see your figures increasing and I certainly share your views on some of the issues. I think after searching through 300 items people do tend to give up if they cant find what they are looking for. Making every item in every colour does start to work against you, I have discovered that the vendors auto list the items buy the date they where made. The oldest always is put on the front page even if you restock. So the items you sell the least of in the most unpopluar colours will drift to the top on the first page not what you want.
I have found one way around this is to dump the items which dont sell on the bazzar at low prices just to get rid of them. Other tips is to have a few vendors to split the load but make it clear which vendors stock what items. I would try to limit the number of items to about 300-400 on each but to stock and update often.
Well keep up the good work.

As for sorting by dates, select filter by date, then type in just year-month, ie. 2004-07will show you everything for July. I wish it would track sales too through secure trade as well. I figure I probably have an additional 400k-500k in custom orders as well. But since the game doesn't generate any type of saveable system message, it would be difficult for someone to program a something that wouldn't violate the EULA.
Looks like you had very nice month as well ![]()

BTW, sorry everyone for the sloppy sales post. I was trying to add in a previous month comparison, and while it looked good writing it, the board FUBAR it up pretty bad
