Thread: Holsters and Scabbards/Sheaths/straps

This is in essence a new clothing item thread. I have an idea for a new clothing item, holsters and Sheaths/scabbards. Essentially, you equip/wear them, and can then put weapons in them, such as a DE10 in a hip holster like the one Han Solo wore. The only real point is to look cool, but that is what all clothes is for in the first place. In the event you are attacked, you automatically draw/equip the weapon in the holster, unless you have another weapon equipped. Also, when you have a weapon, and the appropriate holstet/scabbard equipped, and you suddenly do something that theoretically requires your hands, such as equip the slitherhorn, or get in a car, the weapon autmatically goes into the holster, then out again when you are finished. I just think it would look so cool to walk around with DE10's in hip holsters, like cobwoys or something, and a Rantok blade in a scabarrd on the back. Also, really big guns, such as the T21, have a strap, and are strapped across the back. What do you think? Do you think it is a good idea? If so post, and please post you opinion in the "Submit Feedback" area.

That might work. You could create a belt item that stored a sword (if it were long enough), or a pistol. Stormtroopers wear a carbine in a long scabbard on the right hip, I think. Swords and rifles could go on a bandolier-style thing. You could get boots that had a scabbard for a dagger, or a small pistol (you'd need to put size limits on the various weapons - only some go in certain pockets). Carbines could hang on a little strap on your chest. you get little shoulder holsters for pistols. Etc. You could assign a weapon to a holster, either a boot, leg, belt or bandolier one, by dragging it in. You'd equip and unequip the weapon as normal (though it'd be in the holster at the time). You could have a command to "/draw HolsterName", and "/sheath HolsterName", or something (HolsterName = Boot, Leg, Belt, Shoulder, or whatever). You could easily set up macros to draw things quickly. As soon as you've finished with a weapon, it goes back in the holster. If you equip another weapon, you put the other one back first.

Why would you want this? Like Stupidsystem said, its for looks. However, it might be good if a delay on drawing were put on. Yes, I know, more nerfs. But right now, you can switch weapons almost instantly. If there was a 2 second to take a weapon out of an inventory, and a second to put it away, it'd be more realistic - rifles don't magic into your hands. A holster might only take a 1-second draw time, and for Pistols IV, as well as perhaps a couple of other professions (one-handed, maybe?), there'd be a "Quickdraw" ability, that took of another second. A Pistol drawn by a trained shooter, from a holster, would come out instantly, and one from an inventory in a second. You could even set a "draw time" on each weapon, so larger weapons take longer to draw than others.

Also, along the same lines. Perhaps the grenadier belt should hold grenades? They'd have a "draw" time before they could be thrown normally...but one already on a belt would be instant. You'd only have 5 to draw quickly, but it would be much more realistic...not to mention cooler.

Yup, great idea. Even if it didn't HOLD anything it would still look neat.

Isn't feedback what these forums are for? Where is the appropriate place for discussions like this if not here?

Go to Support, then Submit Feedback. From here, you can send messages directly to the Devs. Anyone else have an opinion on the Holster/scabbard/sheath/strap issue? I would appreciate more discussion and support! I really want to see these items!
