I want to grind through the 19.6k experience needed to become a Novice Tailor. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what schematic I should use for this?

Also, I have heard that Tailors can impart some protection into their clothes. How does one do this?

I used travel packs to get to novice tailor. But then again that was when you could sell travel packs easily

Harvesters produce GCXP instead of structural xp now. This makes themthe hands-down best option for grinding Artisan, since you can use em to get new resources or sell them for a decent profit on the Bazaar.

Honestly, my advice? Consider a different profession. The market for tailors has fallen as a result of the increase in the number of tailors and the lack of any renewing demand through decay. My own business has dropped off severely, I'm afraid, and if decay isn't actively implemented in the next Big Patch, I'll be selling back my tailor skills and moving onwards to something profitable, like medic. :-P

If you're certain that's what you'd like to do, however, consider making things that people generate usage xp from, like basic foods or armor, if you have Eng. I went with making sets of bone armor to sell and for friends, but that was very early in the server's life, so the demand for the only armor in game (at that point) was higher. Travel packs appear to sell well, from what I'm told. :-)

As for the adding protections to clothing, that's a terrible lie. Thanks to the BE fixes we can add some skill mods to clothing if we have the correct tissue components, but actually stopping damage is out of the question. Even those few like the bleeding defense, which sound like they should, under emperical tests failed to prevent any bleeding or stop it any faster. In fact, they seemed to increase it a bit, but that's going under the observer error category until I get interested enough to verify it. :-P

Sorry to sound so negative, but while tailoring is enjoyable, as a viable profession we're sinking down to the level of chef, slowly but surely. I know the devs have fixes in the works, and I'm anxiously waiting on them!

Heh - my character plan is Tailor / Chef / Merchant, dropping one of the afore-mentioned for Politician when it comes out.
