This bug fixed yet? I've got the xp to get novice armorsmith, but don't really want to burn it if I can't use either profession.

This bug has been fixed. Keep in mind also though that now in order to color armor you must have Armor Techniques, sorta like with tailoring you don't get all the colors till you master tailor. It's the same with armor now. Tailor skills don't affect it. That's how it should be though.

Well, I am not so sure about the tailoring techniques not affecting the coloring of armor. Cause I saw the post on the armorsmith forums of the color possiblities for padded armor for an armorsmith, and I have to say I have a lot more color options than that with Master Tailor. I have the full range of tailoring colors available with padded armor. I have yet to experiment with the composite colors.

so... being a tailor means nothing when going up the armorsmith tree?... it doesnt help in the color selection?

No, as of the Oct 9th patch, it's now dependant on your armor custmoization skill, not tailoring anymore.
