Thread: Forged Bank tip commands

I remember hearing several people mention that there are players who are abusing the bank tip command by counterfiting the E-mail and just sending an E-mail to someone so that person thinks they were tipped- when in fact, they were not. (Actually I think I heard it on these Tailor forums)
I was victim to it 3 times in a row (People not tipping me at this point is not a big deal to me, I personally would rather they run off without a thank you than insult my intelligence by trying to lie.)
I submitted a ticket that explained the situation and that perhaps making the Bank Tip E-mail come froma System only e-mail address (Such as calling it "Escrow") would pretty much keep players from doing that-and the CSR responded quickly. They put the information in the report that he submits nightly and also said that I should go to the submit feedback forum and also have anyone else who has been affected by this post there as well so that the problem would be dealt with in a more timely manner.
So. We know this is happening. I suggest we take his Advice and bring it to feedback forums.

I think that I have had this happen to me, but I have no way to prove it. If someone send a regular tip I get a system message saying that I recieved a tip, but bank tips just gives me this easily forgable email. This is ridiculous. I talked to a CSR about whether there is anyway to tell and they said no and that they couldn't help me, so for now I don't accept bank tips.

Always remember this rule of thumb:
- if it's a REAL tip, the name of the person tipping you in the "sender column" (not in the body of the e-mail) will have first and last names, and proper capitalization
- if it's a FAKE tip, the name of the person "tipping" you in the "sender column" will be all lower case, first name only.
Therefore, it is hard to fake, unless the person has only a first name, and all lower-case at that.

Which was exactly how it was in the case of the person I think fake tipped me.....

Remember not everyone has a first and last name in this game. I have sent a couple of bug reports in about this issue. This has serious greifing issues associated with it and should be fixed immediately.

It's true that not everyone has a last name, but most people have some sort of capitalization in their first name. If you get a banktip in all lower case, first name only, be suspicious.

That's a good rule of thumb.. something else I've been doing recently istaking all of my moneyout ofthe bank when I log on and when I log off.. with zero in the bank it's pretty easy to see whether or not I've received a tip, since all tips go to the bank...
For some reason though it feels creepy to have all my money on me instead of the bank... I'm wondering if anybody knows of any reason this might not be a good idea...?

It used to not be a good idea back when you still had to do corpse runs. You'd lose all your cash. Your money was only safe if you ran stashed it in the bank. That is no longer a concern. (And they need to remove that loading splash screen that explains about being careful to deposit cash in the bank in case you die and have to do a corpse run.)
