Thread: Skill attachment slots
Is there different clothes that have more slots for skill tapes than others? If so then which ones? This info would be much aprreciated.
Short version:
1. Sockets are random. 1-4 sockets and it's the luck of the draw what you get. Some items are bugged and always have 0 sockets.
2. Sockets are based on the Tailor's skill level. A Master Tailor will get more (random) 4 socket items than a Novice.

Sockets are based on both artisan (engineering tree) and tailor (tailoring tree) skill level. Domestic arts clothing is based on artisan and tailor clothing is based on tailoring. A lot of people who always end up with 0 on items are making domestic arts clothing, but don't have any of the engineering tree. I still can't get any sockets on the grand ball gown, though. ![]()
Ah, I wondered whythe thread cited in the faq didn't tell you what clothes had slots!
I have a wookie friend that would like a piece of clothing with at least one slot and asked me if I could make it.
I have nothing in Eng and in tailoring I'm 0,0,2,0 (I needed a baking hat
) ... am guessing that the chance of my making anything with a slot is slim and none, hey?
Yah! I thought they had fixed all the clothes that came out with zero sockets but when I made some Grand Ball Gowns the other day I saw it had none. So I made another, and another, thinking my random draw was just that bad, but nope. No sockets on that dress. And I do have Engineering 4 -- Master Artisan -- partly due to not being able to stand the fact I can get 4 sockets almost always on a Master level item but not a pair of casual pants? Hmm, nope, keeping the Engineering Tree. (And Dom for Tailor, Bus for Merchant and Survey for well, cuz why not and it's cheaper to get my own, so went ahead and did master artisan too.)
The worst itemI have for coming out with less then 4 sockets almost all the time is the Travel Pack! But then, didn't they say backpacks aren't supposed to have sockets at all? Like the Tech pack which always has zero?
Although I read where someone said there's a trick to getting tapes to go into the sockets on pack. I think that must be a mailcious rumor. I've gotten several complaints about the sockets on packs "not working" "how do I get the tapes in it" and "why doesn't it have 4 sockets all the time?" "I'll go find a tailor that can make everything with 4 sockets, you must not be very good or you're not a master" (he says while my Master Tailor title is on)
(I hate that response too: the "I'll find a tailor who can make that" --or in that color, or with 4 sockets always. One guy even told me to use better resources and I'd get more colors and guaranteed 4 sockets. Who spreads these tales of untruths???)
