Thread: I have a question about clothing slots...

I have heard that you can only place one skill tape in clothing no matter how many slots the clothing has. Is this true?? If so why don't they just have clothes with 1 slot because it is extremely confusing otherwise.

I think the SEAs(skill enhancing attachments) are just plain buggy. Not just how they go in clothes, but how they stack (or not) and how you only get one random bonus out of however many on a tape.

It is very confusing - and judging by the extremely high prices that some of the SEA's fetch, it can be an expensive mistake when they don't work the way you think they should.

Maybe this should go on someone's Top 5 list, because the tape drops seems to have increased lately. Well, I guess they aren't exactly dropping, but spawning in containers and piles of rubbish. Either way there is a ton of money changing hands, and it'd be nice if they worked as advertised (or expected).

You can put 4 tapes in 4 socket clothing.

There is just a few details you need to be aware of.

1. Six skill mods max per piece of clothing. ---Not tested by me---

2. Negative number tapes like Cover -3, will not stick. Negative numbers never stick and the socket will not be used up. The tape will dissapear but the socket will remain free. ---Tested by me---

3. Stacking tapes - You can not stack tapes with the same mod or put tapes on a cloth with the same BE mod. If you have a BE shirt with +5 mask scent, you can not put a +5 mask scent or less on the shirt. You can put it on but the tape will dissapear and the socket willnot be used. You can, however, but a +6 on and it will stick but it will not stack to +11. Just +6. Same goes for a shirt you added +5 tape to. ---Tested by me---

4. Tapes with multiple bonus - The highest numbered bonus will be the only one that sticks. If you have a Pistol Speed +4 and a Block +7, the Block +7 will stick and the Pistol Speed +4 bonus will dissapear. ---Tested by me---

5. Tricking a tape to allow a smaller bonus on a multiple bonus tape - Ok, you have a tape with Armor Experimentation +5 and Rescue +6. What are you going to do? You do not want the Rescue, you want the Armor mod. Well, there is a way to get the smaller number to stick. First you need to get a Rescue +6, or greater, in a different tape and apply it to the clothing first. Now the clothing has a Rescue +6 (or better). Now if you insert the Armor Exp +5 / Rescue +6 the smaller bonus (Armor +5) will stick since the cloth already has a bonus for the bigger one. ---Tested by me---

6. Bonus Cap - It is said that the max bonus you can have is +25. Even though the skill sheet says you have a +35, for example, the actual bonus realized, in game, is +25. So, if you wantthe max bonus on an outfit, you will need to make sure all the tapes inserted are large enough to reach +25. This means all the +1's, +2's, and ecen +3's might not be good enough for you prized outfit.---Not Tested By Me---

7. Experimentation Point Cap - Experimentation bonus is capped at +20. You need 10 bonus points to get 1 extra experimentation point. Since the actual skill mod bonus is capped at +25, your max bonus is +20. ---Not tested by me---

If I got anything wrong, you get what you pay for Hope this helps

Forgot one, doh...

8. Tapes with multiple identical bonus - Say you have a tape with Dodge +3 and Droid Assembly +3. They both have a +3 so which one will stick? Some say it is random and others say it is alphabetical. Well, all my testing (about 5 tapes) shows it is alphabetical. So the Dodge +3 would be the one to stick in this case. ---Still being tested by me---

/sigh One more oddity

9. Tapes with no bonus at all. Some tapes have no bonus at all. These can be identified, at first sight, by have a white font instead of yellow. I don't know why these are in the game but they are. if you apply one to socketed clothing, it will not do anything. The tape will dissapear and the socket will not be used. ---Tested by me---

The tapes that look empty are supposedly bonuses for Jedi skills. Only Jedi can view the bonuses they give (kind of how Jedi can see stats on Krayt Pearls, Crystals, and the like). So they are useless for everyone else...

I just ran another test on this one. I put a Dodge +2, Creature Taming Bonus +2 and the Dodge +2 stuck...
