Thread: Added Value, the Personal Touch
I have been exploring ways to have fun with tailoring and one of the fun ways is to personalize the names of the clothing, ESPECIALLY when a guy brings his girl in to buy clothes for her.
I have named hotpants after the guy, and gloves, bustiers, etc. They really get a kick out of it.
Thought I would just toss that out to you other tailors. Depending on the customers can "tailor" their items in a unique and memorable way.

Cute idea. I only usually push this when they are buying rings, rings are pretty pointless without a personal message on them. )

I don't personalize an item unless someone specifically asks me to.... or its a gift I am making for someone.
Like one evening we had a beach party (complete with fishing and fireworks) and for those that wanted to fish.. I made them their very own fishing pole... (ie Joe's Fishin' Pole)
I've also made drinks for house decorations (as some of them do sit at the right height to place on a table.. so we have 'Margarita' or 'Jack & Coke' etc...
As for personal touch ... my clients get that when they come into my shop... if I know they are coming they get to deal directly with me rather than my vendors... and if they want something tweaked (a slightly different color or more sockets) I work with them until I get them just what they are looking for.
I also run 'un-advertised' sales for my regulars... items worth considerably more credits are priced down to 300-350 and placed on my vendor as deals to be found for those that take the time to browse in my shop.
Those little things have helped me build up a bit of a regular client base and everyone walks away satisfied with the experience.
That's the real fun of being a tailor to me. Not waiting for a machine to send me an email that it's sold an item.
I try to keep a wide variety of items on the vendors, particularly in terms of basics. But if someone comes in, they'll probably get greeted and I'll offer to make up anything they don't see or get a different color for them. I find that about 1/2 of my customers come in to have me make up something special and try to juggle them as best I can.
I don't rename items, though I'd do it if someone asks. People switch things out a lot and I assume they want it to be something they can dump on the bazaar.
