I would like to know if it's possible for Tailors to make regular clothing (not armor) that protects against combat damage, especially kinetic. Please let me know what's possible, and which type of clothing I could use to get protection.

Also, if you're on Starsider and are interested in selling me some protective clothing, please feel free to send me an e-mail. My character's name is Zuco.

Thanks!

It would be wonderful if clothing did have protective properties and could be layered with armor. That gives us better synergy and less competition with our erstwhile counterparts in the armorcrafting trade, especially if the clothing bonueses were markedly different than but complimentary to those usually seen on armor. It would also provide us more aspects of clothing to experiment with beyond durability.

I would consider a shirt socketed with +4 melee defense or +2 to block and so on to be a defensive bonus, wouldn't you? I beleive thats what is meantby a skilled tailor's clothing offering protection. Assuming they work properly, that is.

Uh-oh, someone believed that blurb on protective properties that we paid the developers to sneak in. Now what do we do?

Hehe, does that mean the manual and everything I heard during Betawas inaccurate?

Hard to believe...

That would be a negatory. We can add bonuses to clothing but nothing like defensive bonuses that armor has.
