someone said you get to pick the bonuses - I'm guessing thats dependant on the tool you put in but I dont suppose I have a hope in hell of their being a BE one?

No it's random. Some schematics will say food/chem tool, some will say clothing/armor. I am guessing you can get weapons and arch ones too?
