very coindence..its not like we truely have original thought on item coloring..it is a point and click fashion plate we eat from.

I myself put my gals on search at log in,
thenwent to cnet to check it worked,

and wont give it much further thought for undercutting, pricing, or stocking.

I will mantain my business the same way I have, by my own pricing and stocking behaviour.

There's a funny thing about clothes shopping in the game...

You could take a few hours over a week or soto browse the galaxy and all its vendors to come up with the outfit that you want, or almost the outfit that you want, and spend the time to go to all the different vendors to pick up the items in question....

Or you could go for the personal touch and submit an order to someone reliable, whose judgement in color you trust, and have the outfit that you *do* want, all color-coordinated in the same shades across items, and pick it up while spending a *lot* less time travelling planet-hopping.

I know which I'd prefer to do...

Speaking of which, I need a new outfit... the whole "paramilitary camo" thing is a little boring.

And yes, your prices are very reasonable. :-)

Oh great... now that other tailors can see my clothes via the bazaar, they can make the identical item and sell it for less!

How can I prove they are copying me? I can't.... but it COULD turn into a problem.

I am NOT going to lower my prices, I think my prices are veryreasonable and affordable. It wigged me out to see the same identical item for sale in the same colors for less money though... maybe just a coincidence?

That's more or less what I said in the SWGCraft thread about the galactic search. My main worry was that it would make me busier but now you cannot buy from the bazaar I don't think it will make a huge amount of difference. And if it gets quieter then great, I can take up pilot again

But I'm glad its finally on live, knowing its due to hit but not knowing when was beginning to annoy me!

Yah. It's not like we have a "trademark" on colors, styles or combos thereof... We have nothing original clothing-wise to be able to claim "I was copied!" Location, pricing, stock-on-hand/selection, business modelsand personal service are the ONLY things we have to differentiate one master tailor from another. And you can't "trademark" any of that either, other than the personal service part. Or maybe your shop layout. Or a business slogan or item branding.

/shrug No point in stressing out over "being copied." It's hardly likely that it's intentional and more likely only coincidental.

Once the novelty of the galaxy search wears off some and the price wars calm down and the undercutters get worn out trying to keep stuff in stock and the location-dependent market shuffles around.... meh. It's a wait and see. If undercutters rip the bottom out of the market, there's always the option of closing up shop and doing custom orders only and spending all those merchant points on a combat prof instead.

I haven't turned on the option yet and I'm still debating doing so. I am still very wary of the new system. But I can definitely see how undercuttingmay take off. I am with the rest of you - I don't want to lower my prices. I have already priced my items for what, in my opinion, they are worth. It makes me angry to hear people accuse crafters/merchants of being fat cats and that this system and the potential undercutting is much deserved. I like running a boutique, not a Wal*Mart.

It is just like strolling through the mall, all the cloths look the same....everyone trying to wear the same styles.

I guess I'm not sooo concerned about this, because, as we saw in the beginning of the game, undercutters burn out or get bored after a while and move on to other things because it's not worth their time to be making so little money. Now things are very different in a factory-producing profession, where undercutters have to spend little in-game time in their evil endeavors, but the gating factor in tailor has always been the time spent churning out clothing.

Well I did turn it on and checked how it works. It was nice to see that my stuff was showing first

Well anyway I decided to close the shop as soon as I sell Some of my Be stock (over 400 items:smileysurprised. My stuff is not the cheapest but it has been selling really well. I won't be droping tailor just taking a break and see how it goes. Kind of burned out by vendors and custom orders. Spent most of my time in game crafting (I don't think puting everything in factory black and white is true tailoring).

I just hope someone doesn't take my trademark sign on my clothes which is E!. I noticed another tailor was marking hers with E* in front of the name of the item and I do at the end.

I have to say that I'm still rather worried about this. My items (except BE and looted) go for 1k-8k. I did a vendor search on my planet (Rori) just to check out the competition, and while I didn't find anyone better stocked than me, the highest price I saw for any piece of clothing was 2k!!! I hope that my larger selection will overcome this, because I simply cannot compete with people like this.

I haven't gotten home from work yet to check out the other tailors. I know from my "recycler parts questing" that there are other tailors out there who simply price everything 2K.. or much higher, or much lower than I do.
I decided not to sweat the small stuff, I have plenty of regular customers, and if I don't have to restock 8 vendors quite so much; wheee, I can spend more time with my hunny before he disappears.
I agree, the undercutters will get burned out (at least I hope so)

and the only way to know if you are being copied is if the way it is named is exactly the same - i.e. Sapphire Blue Dress Slippers.

I figure I will let a week or so go by - track my sales as I always have - and I plan to send a survey mail to any new customers, asking how they found me, and what they liked/disliked about my vendors.

the only way i would ever consider another tailor copying me is if i custom named a specific item (like if theyuse the same pair of slacks i use as "Blue-jeans by Sakura" and label them "Cheap Jeans by -X- who undercuts Sakura's already low prices") THEN I might claim they are copying. but yeah like most people said since there is a finite color pallette it is most likely that other tailor just has as good of tastes in clothes as you do!
