Contest is open only to natural persons who are legal residents of the fifty (50) United States (including the District of Columbia ) for the duration of the Contest.
As usual for these competitions it's restricted to those residents in the USA only.
In this day and age that really isn't on.
In fact i'd say it's racist (nationalist?) whatever it's bang out of order.

restrictions like these are usaully law-based... I don't think they're trying to piss off non-US players.

Indeed, i don't think that they are and i do think theat in some way they are law based, but in this digital age surely they could give something to those people outisde the USA or run a seperate competition for those in Europe or other parts of the world? It happens all the time and frankly it really is just taking the mickey now.

contests outside of the US would be a good idea, but I'm guessing that the regional distributor will have to host it, and depending on the amount of people that play there it might not be worthwhile (for them) for the amount of resources it takes.

True, but it would stop the bad feeling when these things are limited to one country, i'm sure that SOE and the distributor could reach some kind of agreement, it still sucks though and that is something that can't be denied really
TBH i'm suprised my original post was edited/deleted.

Less debate, more Wookiee shaving! ![]()
but in all seriousness, it would be great to see more contests outside of the US, but I'm betting our local Political Guru is correct.
to quote her...
great idea, but not too likely to happen.

Yeah, great idea and if not likely to happen then they should cease all competitions until they can work out a way to include all players.

Could they not maybe give in-game prizes for a competition? Surely that would be able to be done wherever?

I'd accept that as a suitable reward, however i would insist that the item is bio-linked to the winner as soon as it is placed into the inventory. What could they give though? The prize would need to be suitable for all players, perhaps a one off rug, holo or painting? A new vehicle? House? Or something specific to the winners profession?
They *could* do quite a lot, but as usual its a physical real-world reward - its an incentive, but only if your in the USA.

Galaxies is in a unique position, because SOE has to coordinate everything through LucasArts before it can happen.
