Personally I keep my tag up all the time saying I am a master tailor, I also started a small following while working towards MasterTailor. I get business where ever I can find it and have built a small rep on Wanderhome mostly with new characters as I can't stand the standard clothes they get .......uggggg!

I started off in a small town that didn't have another tailor. I also did/do mostly custom orders, so I get to work with my customers and start building a relationship with them. People come back to me because they know I'll treat them right. That lead to my customers referring others to me, and built out from there. I also put clothes on the bazaar with an advert to my buisness, and walked around Coronet with my Master Tailor tag up.

Hope this helps!

You could start by putting up a vendor, then making some clothes and putting them on the bazaar.

Name the clothes "Clothing by "yournamehere" - "waypoint to shop" "

That way, people have it right in their inventory.

That's how I still do it, and I've been a tailor for over a year.

Yeah, im kinda getting a lot of BE stuff coming out in formfitting undershirts. I am also going to be making a lot of the exotic clothing. So hopefully dancers and ents will like it. once i get my shop up ill be emailing most dancers and ppl i meet.

I'm glad you found your way to our forums. Don't hesitate to ask questions and also there are many helpful links in the stickies above!

I always suggest when starting out to do ONE or TWO things only and be really good at it... I started out by making clothes for wookiee and doing lots of custom work for them... but that was a long time ago.

Still if you can find a nitch that would be most helpful.

When I log in with my alt... I can never find matching clothes on the Bazaar and am too lazy to take her to a vendor. So stock nice dancing clothes near the cantina in cnet or theed.

It all depends on your definition of 'business'

Are you going to be a Wholesale (components for AS and Chef), a Retail (Merchant with vendors) or a Custom Order Tailor?

I am a Custom Order Tailor and so will give you that angle.

I have my crafting droid, basic components and resources with me at all times. I wear my Master Tailor tag everywhere (except when I switch it to Uniform Marshall to berate someone for their bad taste in clothing ).

Almost every night I make my rounds of Bestine, Eisley, Theed, and usually C'net and look for newbies in starter/obviously looted clothing. I then stop them, make them a decent set of not too expensive clothes (which all have my name on them) and send them on their way. I also am prone to tip the Novice Entertainers in clothing, they love that... usually. I let them know that when they are ready for new clothes or want to get into something a little more specialized (BE) they just have to drop me a mail with when and where they would like to meet. I have a decent sized customer base and a very loyal following.
