Yes, clothing assembly should be it. If you take a browse through the FAQ and link directory (particularly the link directory) I think we have some old threads which have empirical evidence. There is also some evidence that inspiration buffs may help socketing.

The thing is, I am not sure whether it really works, and if it does, whether it works *enough* to bother. Socketing is tricksy and seems to come in spurts, so after every patch, there are an equal number of posts saying "omg socketing is fixed" and "omg socketing got broken more!" Same with the skill tapes. I think someone who owns some of those skill tapes may be better equipped to answer this question (*waits patiently for Ani'cul to wakey wakey*)

Yeah yeah 'mornin

When it comes to buying/collecting skill tapes, do what YOU can afford.

When it comes to wearing a +25 suit for more sockets, honestly, who cares?

I wear mine more as a Tailor pride then as a garuntee for sockets.
{and would rather have it now, then later if it does make a difference}

If it does make a difference?!?! yup, can't tell is what I say.

I have had days of crafting without suit that yeilded about10 1-3 sockets and 404 sockets
and days with it that produced {yup on the same 50 items, I was doing a craft by color thing} 20 1-3 30 4 sockets

So what does it all mean?

Get them if you can afford to buy them
Wear them if you get them {only in your workshop of course, leave it at home don't travel with outfit}
and if your looking to bulk sell 4sox...
craft prepared to do factory runs..even if only a crate,
when you hit a 4sox item, dedicate it to a schem and slam it in factory.
