Thread: TEF tax?

I am wondering if anyone here charges a TEF tax. I am not going to complain about being killed by PvPers or anything like that. When I chose sides, I knew that it came with the territory, but last night I realized that there is a problem. First of all, just for background, I became a covert rebel because a lot of my friends were in a guild and I wanted to join them. I have very little fighting skills and I pretty much keep as neutral as possible (I even have some very loyal overt imperial customers!).

Anyway, someone had ordered an outfit a couple of days before, and she said that she was in Dearic. I was going through Dearic anyway because I am working on setting up a shop in our player city and that is the nearest town. Anyway, my customer is an overt rebel, and when she was running up to greet me, an overt imperial who was camping the area killed her with a lightning canon or something. This person then made it obvious that if I traded with this customer that I would get a TEF and would also be killed. My attitude was 'oh well' and that I was not going to let this ruin my business, so I went to the cloning center, cloned, made my trade and was killed less than a minute later (at least it was fast! One shot to incap me and then a deathblow). The problem that I see here is that this could end up eating the entire profits of a sale! In this case, the profit margin was pretty high, but if it was a 2500 credit order, I would lose money!

So I am wondering if it seems fair to charge a 2000 credit cloning charge (once for the town I am in, and once to reclone back home) if the customer is in a hurry can can not follow me *way* outside of town to an isolated spot if I am going to get a TEF. Any ideas?

P.S. Even though I am not really complaining, I think that killing unarmed civilians who have absolutely *no* chance of doing even a single point of damage is kind of cowardly.

I flat-out won't trade with anyone who is overt. This is from back in the day when I was neutral, and it simply was not possible. It's rude for the *customer* to expect you to take on a flag. After all, what if you were neutral or of the opposite faction? It's the customer's responsibility to get rid of the overt flag before trading with you.

Personally I allways put custom orders on the vendor -- if a customer asks why I explain that I use the 'sold' messages at the end of the day to update my spreadsheet/fiscal reports (which I do). Another reason for this, is that you wound't imagine the 'impulse buys' this results in -- i've sold twenty or thirty Bounty Hunter and SpecOps packs this way over the past month or so.

I also used to get merchant xp when they pulled up my inventory, but it really doesn't matter anymore for me after I hit master.

Just my two centicredits.
