Being new to the profession im curious as to what is the average creds per unit people are charging ?

Any help would be greatly appriciated

Tailoring is a profession that really doesn't consistantly charge ppu. Instead, it seems that people tend to charge what they feel is fair for their time. If I charged ppu, it would be somewhere near 10/15 for some items. However, when I create clothing, I spend a lot of time putting items together, far more than the average crafter and that's what I base my prices on.

It's interesting though, this is the one topic that tailors have opinions that run from one extreme to the others. It's also bound to cause a huge debate no matter where or when it's asked.

My prices started out way back whenat 10cpu with an adjustment for factory components and special resources.Then I adjusted items based on their skill level (a formal wear IV dress should cost noticeably more than a novice tailor one, in my opinion). I also grouped things together so I don't go insane when listing items for sale - for example, most of the standard shirts (flex-form, musle, reinforced, form-fitting, etc) are the same price. Fancier ones like the trim-lined and suit shirt are more. My master items are priced more per item type than by resources. After revising my price-list several times (and deciding it was nuts to worry about it so much) it hasn't changed in months.

That said, I also discount for bulk orders - usually 20%. And my definitely of bulk is pretty loose - I pretty much discount all custom orders, just because. Tonight I had a really sweet first time customer looking for 2 outfits, one for herself and one for a friend and she was on a tight budget. She was just starting out as a dancer, and I liked her enthusiasm and attitude so I gave her two complete outfits for free.

Anyhow, if I had to give pricing advice I'd say keep it simple, don't sell yourself short, and don't agonize over 25 or even 500 credits one way or another. There is enough money floating around in this game that people are more concerned with finding a nice item to wear than worrying about whether an item is 500, 1000 or 1500 credits. Also realize that if you price too low, you may wind up going crazy trying to keep up with demand. I think it's better to have a balance between keeping your business in the black, keeping your customers happy, and not having to be a slave to your crafting station.
