Thread: So bored with tailor!
I love tailor, if it's not for you, then quit.
Heh. As much as i get fed up with tailor... im making *gasp* tailor #2 on another server. I've did very minimal grinding on this character. But what i did it was like "wow" most of my first tailor's grinding was done before practice mode and days after the factories started giving xp (i got my factory a few hours before the patch that made them stop but it was cheap anyway *shrugs*) I love tailoring and people seem to think im good at it. It's my favorite thing in the whole game. i just hate some of the people i have to deal with. HOORAY FOR RUN ON SENTENCES!
Just recently I have had a renewed interest in tailoring and have been making some awesome items. I bit the bullet and got my hands on some really nice BE tissues and made some incredible outfits for players.
A couple of players also came to me with the expensive taming tissues and I successfully crafted some very nice outfits for them, in turn they left me with 2 of these taming tissues which I successfully made into 2 awesome peices of clothing (wookie sages hood which sold in one night and a duster which I just put up for sale today).
In short, once I get the needed items.. I enjoy tailoring alot. I hate feeling 'stagnant' or unable to move ahead. But the past few days, not only has my tailoring taken off but also my wedding buisness has expanded by placing my own wedding hall 
I am very excited...
The other thing that helps.. go look at tailor sites, check out outfits they have made, I find this helps when I am feeling less than creative.
Also, I have learned to take a much needed break now and then and that is when I play my fighter on another server.
I'm finding that no one wants custom made clothing anymore. I've started just making freeoutfits for random people in cantinas and any noobs I can find. I used to be unable to keep up with tells, but now I'm lucky if I get one order all day. I think maybe my server is saturated with clothes...either that or tailors.
get into a large combat guild (300 members or so) and you will be so busy you will never rest.
They need dress uniforms and enhanced clothing. and now they need new clothing all the time with the decay patch.
Just make sure you Know a good BE before going in or else you will lose a lot of business to people that just wwant enhanced clothing. Just make them pay for everything in resources or high prices or you will be too busy to ever log off.
Since making master a week ago I have made 350 full sets of uniforms and 40 or so custom enhanced jobs as well as some regular custom jobs.
Most combat guilds make you choose a faction, but it is a small price to pay for all the business. Just try not to butt in on another master tailors combat guild without being asked. Some like myself would love the help right now. Others want to work their rears off all alone.
They just love the master red hot pants though and I can't explain it. I sold 200 in the last week. They are selling like hotpants!!
The truth is that tailoring and selling your tailored goods is a finicky and time consuming process. It just is not necessarily the thing for everyone.
Personally, I have been a crafter/seller in both EQ and DAOC, so I entered this profession with a fairly goodconcept of what would be involved. I also did not enter, until I was sure that some of the annoyances with crafting in those other two games did not occur.
Ayden, I am under the impression that you grinded through to become master tailor. There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing it. In fact under the current conditions it is necessary. But it is not necessary for someone who wants to be a tailor in game.
For tailoring, all master does is addmore recipes, it does not make you a tailor. There are sellable schematics all along the tree. Making and selling at every box will allow someone to see if they really want to be a tailor. This way, you are also rewarded in two ways, xp and credits. You learn what items and colours sell. You have a good idea about all the combos. And most importantly you ensure that you want to be a tailor.
The class is not perfect. However, it is ok for someone who wants to be a tailor under the general conditions set up by this game. On the other hand, I can easily see the skill being equivalent to fingernails on the chalkboard for many other players.
I meant to say in the previous post, that sometimes under the current conditions of the game it is necessary to grind. I am of course talking about holo tailors.

Boredom is a state of mind. There are many ways to be a tailor, you don't have to keep doing the same things if they're not interesting to you. I did a slow 4 month trek to Master Tailor. The last month was mostly a grind blitz to get the top colors and complete the formal line, but overall I took a pretty sedate pace, allowing myself time to experiment with combos and styles (as many here have suggested).That was about 2 months ago.However, I never felt that I had MASTERED tailoring until very recently.
That was when I set up a specialty vendor called "Complete Matching Outfits." I hand-craft complete styles in whatever mode I feel like, then post them on the vendor in packs. I spend almost no time on generic "department store" sales anymore, I just craft outfits. Strange combinations, themes, professional looks, matching party wear, pre-made tuxes and combat gear, faction uniforms, movie costumes, holiday costumes, whatever comes to mind that day. I expected this to be a risky enterprise, but darn if I can keep the thing stocked! And the returning customers that I get as a resultare often more thoughtful and more interested in WHAT I CAN DESIGN for them rather than what specific shirt I can make.
The whole thing is remarkably liberating and has extended the life of the profession for me into the foreseeable future. I'm not saying you have to do this to have fun, but it's worked for me.
The top box is only a little "ding" on the xp meter. To really get the most out of the profession (and avoid burnout and boredom) you need the breathing room to do something creative. Build a shop, fill it with displays. Specialize in specific styles. Once you get Master, stop grinding out the same old spec-ops dusters and camo pants and enjoy the freedom you have to create whatever you want. BE A MASTER! Don't be a slave to the market, craft your own ideas.
