Thread: Tailor Experimentation???
Around August, Gorath had a resource shift with Tatooine fiberplast at an Overall Quality of 4. It was pathetic and I loved it. People had grabbed tons of it and were dumping it for a song. I went until almost christmas on that stuff!!! Heck, I might still have a tiny stack somewhere.
A couple of days ago, a friend was very excited and said she found a +6 tailoring experiment tape for only 500k and was going to buy it for me. I told her to stop loud and fast. STOP!!! Nooooo. We can't use that.
*sigh*
Some day we might. I scanned through the letter on the state of the game and noticed.... tailors were not listed whatsoever. Not really surprising, but it was a disappointment that we are once more being completely ignored as a class....

lol...Does it exist? Has it ever? Ummmm...way back in the day it did. I so miss experimentation. I pride myself on getting the best resources to craft with, only wish it would show against all the other tailors crafted items...

Be glad it doesnt... I would hate to have to find the top of the line resources for clothing just as I have to do for WS and architect.
I think it is really too late for experimentation. The trend has already been set that clothes are cheap and so those of us who can't gather our own resources will never be able to compete with the more wealthy crafting classes for those resources. What it would mean is that someone who is an armorsmith/tailor and has the income because of it would automatically be a better tailor than someone who has really worked to understand the clothing that they can make and what goes together with what. I used to think that experimenation was a good idea, but now I think it is simply to late to add it back in.

Which isn't necessarily that big a deal, but the problem is that it'd be difficult to pass the costs on to customers in higher prices, since the market's been "set" already, and the market equilibrium price for clothing is "pretty cheap."
Actually, the time to introduce experimentation would be when the vendor nerf goes in, since that will cause so much turmoil and disequilibrium in the clothing market by itself, nobody would notice the added simultaneous chaos of experimentation, with all the huge price shifts and reduced supply the vendor nerf will create.

Experimentation though was something that we could've had that would make us tailors very different from eachother. I know we all have our own styles for other things already that putus out there- but let me ask you...when you want the best armor, weapons, droids, foods, meds, etcout there - you know who to go to because they are the best. They care enough to use the greatest resources out there to make the best product possible. I wanted that sort of friendly competition between us tailors as well. *shrug* I wanted, or had hoped at one time to be considered "one of the best" but that will never happen...
I would just personally not want resource based experimentation until after the hologrinders are gone in a few publishes. No one should automatically be one of the best tailors because they were able to make a lot of money doing something else like selling resources or skilltapes.
