If you are new at tailoring, I am assuming you are not a Master Tailor. Once you Master Tailor getting 4 sockets isn't too had to get. Maybe you are having bad luck? I am not sure. One time I made 5 packs and 4 out of the 5 had 4 sockets

Good luck and stay in there

I am and have been a master tailor for a long time now. Getting 4 sockets used to be something I took for granted, not getting 4 was an abnormality.

Recently though I have had anumber oforders for clothing with 4 sockets in them. Its been taking like 8 tries per item to get the 4 sockets. Some of the orders I had were for BE clothing with 4 sockets, and I ran out of BE enhanced tissues trying to get the sockets on 4 items - the highest number of sockets was 3.

I'd be interested to know if SOE has quietly changed the way the game calculates sockets, since this run looks like more than just bad luck.

thats why if they want 4 sockets, they are going to have to pay for the experimentation process.

The socket issue is bad for business. I'm a relatively new master tailor, and i've finally gotten the hang of BE clothing and stuff. The other day i had n order of some guy who wanted +3 Melee/+13 Stun pantaloons with 4 sockets. The thing is, he only wanted them in a certain color scheme. Well, i did some regular crafting, without BE enhancements, on the pantaloons for a few times, and was getting 3 sockets max. But lets say i had decided to use BE tissues each time until i got 4 sockets? I get my high end BE tissues for 3-4k a piece. if it took me 8 tries to get a 4 socket pair of pantaloons with BE enhancements, i would have pretty much thrown 24-32k of tissues down the drain, because i highly doubt there would be 7 other customers screaming for sea-foam green pantaloons. I pretty much had to tell my guy he would either settle with whatever sockets it came out with, or find a tailor willing to throw the tissues out the window for him. So pretty much nowadays, whenever a customer comes to me with socket requests, i tell them "tailors don't have control over sockets. Devs took out tailor experimentation, so now its random. you may end up with 2, you may end up with 4." I guess there was a good reason to nerf tailor so socekts could not be controllable, but we want to make the customer happy without having to throw tens of thousands of credits in the fire to make one item of BE clothing with 4 sockets.

As a Master Tailor, I've been getting 4 sockets on my BE clothes about 15% of the time.

Lucky you... I have or ummm Lill' Bit has been tailoring as a master tailor for 2 + months and every things she makes is real random at this point. I am just elated to get 3 sockets so to get something with four is awesome.. btw do you charge more for BE clothing with four sockets? And is there a price list for the Be clothing ?

I love to being a tailor, btw. And I love the custom orders more.

They nerfed our sockets back in publish 7 when they added the wookiee pillows. Now it is really hard to get 4 sockets on anything and very frustrating to make a 4 socket suit. On the other hand, when I was making shorts yesterday, they almost always came out with 4 sockets with occasionally 3! It was just like the old days of being a master tailor. I wonder if they added item complexity into it and threw everything off balance.

Hmmm shorts are an artisan item, so that's another can of worms...

Well, you can't put a melee def/stun defense BE Comp in pantaloons anyway 'cause all it requires is synthetic cloth... From what I've seen all I can do is put them into RFP.

I get 4 sockets a lot, its not rare for me.

Yea, and I tried other artisan and tailor items to see if anything had changed, but it didn't. I didn't try anything like a simple shirt, though. There is a good chance that they copied our experimentation code over from artisan so I was hoping that this might give a clue about what is going on.

hehe, i actually work off custom orders completely. I only need like Management 1 or 2 in merchant, so all the rest of my skill points go towards Master Fencer. On wanderhome i've found it very affective to strike deals with the buffers. I usually advertise something like, "Get outfitted while waiting to get buffed by NAME (kthe best buffs for the best price)! PST with your orders!" The buffer in return advertises their buff prices as well as something like, "Don't forget to get some clothes from Stavrose, the tailor who made your superbuffs possible with these cheap and awesome BE doc clothes!" I get tons of business this way. Custom ordersare the way to go!

Oh yeah, it wasn't pantaloons i was making, it was a bright redammo bandolier. Unfortunately, i'm not cool enough to edit my posts yet, so i apologize for that

As for BE pricing, i used Jeany's website to do that. She has a pretty good BE pricing forumula. Her website is at http://home.online.no/~lavitus/swg/(which i got from NJ62's FAQ ). Her BE FAQ and BE Pricing pages arae very helpful.

I don't charge more for more sockets, but if they are persistant that they want 4 sockets, i usually tell them i'll only do it if they agree to pay for all the experimented BE clothes i had to make to get an item with 4 sockets. usually they say "ok, just make it with however many sockets you can" so it saves them money and you don't have to waste 20 tissues
