Thread: Factories...my first experience with them

Well I just started my first factory run about an hour ago. I decided i need some Synthetic cloth crates (seeing as I was running low of pre-made crates) and I plopped my factory down, paid the power/maintenance, inserted my schematic/ingredients and hit activate.

Now, I set the schematic for a 300 item run, and I put in the required materials (using my handy calculator). So, how long do you think I have to wait?

I'll be logging in again tomorrow, will it be done by then? I'm guessing i'll get around 12 crates of 25 cloths per, give or take a bit. That will get me through for a few days.

Well, I wanted to share my experience and to ask those questions.

Thanks

You should have them by then.

It takes me a good 48 hours to do a 1k run.

I would of done more, but i would have eaten up my Fiberplast Reserves for custom/vendor orders. I spent almost 200k on pre-made factory components to be absolutely able to craft most things, and I even got two backpacks full of tailor crates and a wearables factory for FREE from a quiting Tailor player. I was destined for tailor it would seem.

Once I hit TKM, i'll do many many money missions to build up a financial buffer, then buy more materials/components and make a darn fantastic little tailor of myself hehe.

When you start up a factory, you can"examine" the factory it gives you a readout of how long each item takes, and how many have been completed. One thing I've learned is *never* log out before one item has been completed, that way you know that the factory run you put in is ok. When you start dealing with lots of schematics, and a backpack full of materials and such, it's real easy to put the wrong materials with the wrong schematic, and then you log back in and have nothing.

I made sure of that. Now I need to think of what to do with those synthetic cloths hehe, i may need a new house to fit them all.

I'm not about to level up in merchant, i don't want to destroy my hopes of a triple master.

Oh yeah. The Examine on the factory is a neat little trick. One I didn't even know existed until I did it by accident one day! LOL. Anyway, I since learned, it only shows object make time if there is a run in process. To figure out when your run will be done:

Object make time X number of objects, divided by 60 = minutes divided by 60 = hours.

For those curious, the time to create an item is 8 seconds per complexity for the draft schematic (as seen in your data pad) for athe food and chemical factories. I imagine itis be the same for tailors, but can not say for certain.

For space concerns, you know you can leave it in the output hopper until you need it right? It won't poof, so long as the factory has maintenence. If the output hopper gets crowded, you can then toss it in the input hopper for storage

Btw, synth cloth takes 120 seconds per ( 2000 minutes of server up time). Takes mearound36 hours to do a full run ( depending on server up time).

I usually have 3 factories running full blast making subcombines.
