Thread: Customer Service goes a long way
I just wanted to share this with everyone because, just like in real life, customer service goes a long way.
I am a Novice Tailor with her skills in Casual & Formal right now who is moving slowly up the tailor tree. I received a /tell from a character asking me if I accepted special requests, I said yes. He emailed me a list of 23 things that he wanted...only 7 of which I could make right now. So I emailed him back:
"I appreciate your order! Unfortunately, I am only a Novice Tailor and cannot make all of the items you have requested. Below you will find a quote for the items I can make. I can provide you with a referral to a Master Tailor for those items that I am not able to produce for you."
I listed the items and provided him with my quote.
"My prices are based on a number of factors such as the amount of resources needed, the availability of those resources, my skill level and the level of the item, and the time to produce them. I currently have other special orders that I am trying to fill. I can have these items ready for you in about 2 hours. Please reply with your level of interest. I appreciate your business!"
I received reply from him: "Hey there, I'm impressed!!! I would love for you to make me those items...And I'm not sure how long it takes to reach Master Tailor status but might it be a possibility for you to hold onto the list and make the items when you hit Master? Doesn't matter how long it takes. They are only clothes and your service is worth the wait. I am going to tell my friends about you."
I made him the items I could right away and received payment and within 15 minutes I had 6 more orders from people referred by him. I do not mind getting bogged down with orders because that is why I became a tailor. It put me in such a great mood that I wanted to share this with everyone!
Happy Tailoring!

You are absolutely right, Julia.. it's all about customer service. There's somone undercutting me between my shop and the town, yet my customers pass right on by, bless their hearts! Treat people right, and they're your customers for life! A very large percentage of my customers are customers that have been with me since I was a novice. I love the customer service aspect of tailoring... and it's paid off in spades.
