Thread: A realization on mens vs womens clothes...

People have asked for the ability for men to go shirtless.. But as a dancer trying to match outfits with ladies, I've found the problem is worse than that. On a male, the most torso flesh you will ever get a glimpse of is through the slit in a vest/jacket. However on women they have a dozen or so options that show much more. There is just nothing that can be used to match up with that.. The vest or jacket look just doesn't cut it with any of the women's clothes. The best match I've found is muscle or flex form shirt, which gets a bit dull and repetitive after awhile.

I think as a dancer trying to find clothes to wear, this is one of my biggest frustrations. So what I'd really like to see is more "light" shirts/tops for guys, along with just plain shirtless. I realize there aren't much options, but theres got to be something better. Something that will match up nicely with all the bikini tops out there.

And on the subject of men vs women.. I kind of wish there wasn't a restriction for clothes at all. My first thought was there should be.. But then I looked at some of the clothes and realized they would just look silly on men. But then I saw a female Trandoshan and realized they look just as silly on any non mamillian species of either gender. So I'd really like to see gender flags completely gone except where absolutely necessary. At least then creativity in combinations may produce something interesting that actually works for guys.

Very apprentice tailor here, but could you apply the same idea as the nude suit to either of those shirts? Or is the cut such that it wouldn't really work out.
I do admit though that I would prefer it if some of the restrictions were changed or removed.

You know I hadn't thought to try that.. I made a novice version of a nude suit with shorts and soft undershirt once.. The problem with flex form and muscle shirts is they have some odd shading with them. Flex form less so. Soft undershirt is a nice flat color, but it's got shoulder pads.

I agree, finding good clothes for a male entertainer is a pain.

Try finding clothes for ANY wookie entertainer.

On the other hands, wookies can go shirtless! And pantless, too.

I know what would be good for male entertainers!

Suspenders! Could wear them without shirts for that naughty fireman look?

Tank tops: Not just for entertainers. Men have no good sleeveless shirts.

Sleeveless Bodysuit with it's own belt: Hard to explain the look im talking about... but it would look performerish!

Bow Ties: Could be worn alone for dancers and would look quite snazzy with suits for musicians.

And just bare chest... man chest isn't pornographic... no more pornographic than half of a chick's boobies sticking out from under a jacket!

Just a pet peeve : while I 200% agree with the stupidity of not having the possibility for men to run shirtless, and while I am not at all offended byall of this, whyis that always "entertainers = naked" and "dancing = stripping"in the mind of all people. Business wise, it is absolutely killing the variety of the clothes we produce. How many dancers will purchase a classy gown or an elegant skirt instead of an exotic leotard ?

As much as I hate it... Sex sells. Even in game. If you wear anything "Classy" men aren't going to tip you. If you're a male. people probably aren't going to tip you. If you aren't a twi'lek, zabrak or human, people probably aren't going to tip you. If you want tips you offer to /tell a lapdance. (I saw someone doing this the other day and missing the /tell part and saying "oops" over and over) Most dancers, however seem to have more self-respect than this thank goodness.

Oh to further my argument on no gender specific flags... I took the one piece of clothes of the exotic style (IE not just hot pants) that men can wear - the bikini leggings.. Made it black on black, and a black simple vest, changed my twi'lek skin color to a medium green, put on the leggings and vest..

It looked fairly good, very revealing, and unlike hot pants, I never got one bad reaction from the ladies. It looked almost like a genie, so I used the sparkling smoke effect that dancers get.

I can confirm the 'genie' look worked, really well .....

*grins*

It gets just as frustrating trying to design display clothes for male dancers, as for the dancers wearing them. Other than the muscle/flexform shirt, or the bare chest/simple vest look, there's the pirate/trim lined vest and, uh ...... not much else that works.

On the bottom half ... hotpants/shorts, infiltrator leggings or Tiaga's genie-pants are just about the only 'exotics' that can be used.

I'd love to see a male fleshwrap-top (not certain if it would work so well all the way down, but strapping across the chest would look good), singlets, more sleeveless tops or deep open-necked shirts, swashbuckly pirate boots, leather trousers, proper decorative belts (with things hanging from them) that fitted.

And a proper bare-chest look, and an ostrich-feather fan that could be held, for the whole 'I want this slave oiled and sent along to my tent!!' look ...

uhhh ....

If you want to go for the pirate look:

Trim lined shirt (redis best, IMHO)

Black lined shorts

Black standard boots (they have the cuff on the top and stitches up the back, very swashbuckler looking)

I haven't confirmed that the shirt is wearable on a male yet, but I think it is,and my human female toon looked cute in it when I tried it on.

When I would dance I found that a black with white dangly things decorated vest, a white pirate shirt, black with white striped pants, some short black gloves and some black uniform boots looked good. A nice formal looking piece.

For general everyday wear I find that Standard Boots make good "swashbuckly pirate boots".

Theres also alot of suggestions I see that (usually various hat styles)would look good and would give many options, but seem inapproprate to the Star Wars feel of the game. I would probably put suspenders and bow ties in that category.

What I think would have really helped towards customization is if each item was broken down to location (so all shirts and jackets were sleeveless and shirt and jacket sleeves were a diffrent item letting you mix and match sytles or even go without). Main problem with that is that it would take away some of the feel of the game (make it feel more like a game anyway, it would harm the imersion effect of it).
