I'm a Tailor now... and, I must say it, I find it really boring. Not the designing part, but the endless grinding. Window after window, click after click, watching the resources vanish as if they weren't even there. Yeah, I have a marco to help out, but it's still pretty boring. So I wanted to ask, what do you all do to pass the time while grinding away?
I guess I'm just used to being out and killing things, lol.

It is when you hate grinding and keep getting side tracked..

Uh... you could try actually playing as a tailor. Taking orders, helping customers, that kind of thing. It's what keeps most of us busy and entertained.

Yup..if you're planning on staying in the tailoring profession, try actually selling some stuff - custom orders, maybe even your own vendor up...that kinda thing.

Not many people want to put in orders to a Novice Tailor .

Yep, that part is annoying at times, but that low-level-people-can't-sell-anythingcop out doesn't work for the Tailoring profession. Tailoring is special. Unlike most other crafting professions, there are good, sellable clothes in every single skill box, and you can manage to sell them with only access to the novice colors. If you focus on what you can make and explain to folks that they don't need a Master Tailor to make them "look cool" (which often just means black pants, black shirt, black jacket, and black boots, which you can already make) then you can sell things. I worked my way up to Master Tailor completely by crafting and selling, I did no grinding. It took about 4 months. And I always had steady bazaar sales and a decent amount of vendor traffic as well. It is harder for a lower level person to sell as much. But I thought you were looking for something to do? Selling as you level is an accomplishment, kind of like a puzzle, that was more satisfying to me than the momentary fun of getting that next skill box.

As a lower level tailor, you can fill a niche that many higher level folks don't bother with. Try selling basic shirts, pants, gloves, and boots on the bazaar in neutral colors. Black and white are still the most popular, I also did okay with grey, tan, and brown. Selling packs on the bazzar also still works well for me.Try setting up a vendor, you may be surprised. As long as you stock a decent amount of products in the colors you can make, many customers will be able to find something they'd like even if it's not one-stop shopping for them. If you don't want to spend skillpoints in business or merchant, you canfind a merchant willing to buy and resell your goods. Or set up a factory and sell crates of synth to armorsmiths. There is constant demand for synth cloth from folks grinding armorsmith. I usually only takes a day to move any synth crates I list on the bazaar.

Being lower level is no excuse for havingno sales. It's something every new tailor has dealt with, and many of us managed to do it successfully. Sure you could just grind up as fast as possible then drop it all and move on to your next career. But since your path is up the Tailor tree anyway, don't you want to try and actually experience the profession?

Well, I don't have enough skill points to get vendors. And I don't really like crafting. I guess I'm a bad guy , but I'm not doing this for the money or for the glory. I'm only trying to master Tailor because it was a skill by my Holocron. I'm not a crafter. I'm a fighter. I've always been a fighter. I used to be a Smuggler/Commando like I said. I perfer to have a gun in my hands over a clothing crafting tool...

It takes two days of grinding... Not a big deal.

That definitely made it fun for me. The grind was not too bad, but taking those orders and seeing a customer giddy is the best!

I am in the same boat. I'm 0300 Tailor right now and am 25% through that final fourth box. I'm really hoping these cartridge belts are all their cracked up to be or I don't think I'm going to make it.

I love tailoring, I find it way more fun and enoying then when I was a everything-related-to-combat. But grinding to master is just so repetitive and boring. And way too slow. I could do an elite combat professian in 1/4 the time it takes to do these crafting ones. I just sit there on my bench in Coronet listening in on other peoples conversation clicking and clicking and clicking wondering why I'm paying $15 a month for this. And then when the resources dry up! I just want to give up!

But in the end you realy do get a sense of accomplishment. I feel so proud of myself for what I've gotten so far. And each time I make something that I or someone else is actually going to wear I feel proud.

Also, I'm working on weaponsmith... And comparing the two, tailors got it made! It takes way more time to climb up that weaponsmith tree then it does the tailor one. Weaponsmiths don't even have anything good to grind on like we tailors have that cartridge belt. So I'm not complaining to much, I just want my Field Wear 4 title! ... Forgot what it was.

Heh, Field Wear IV's title is "Uniform Marshall" which I think it easily the coolest tailor title. I still wear mine when I'm available for orders but don't want to get swamped. Sometimes people ask me what it means, and I tell them it means I'm a high-ranking member of the Fashion Police.

Well..then..if you're not a tailor for the inherent joys of it, I'm not surprised you find it boring! Silly chap.
