Thread: Skill Tapes & Wookiee Clothes

I was told Wookiees can only use the shoulder pad with their skill tapes, but I have a Crested Battle Padding with Melee Defense +1. Can Wookiees use skill tapes with belts, bandoliers, shirts, smocks, robes, headwear, and gloves as well? I'm trying to find out if I can do what the humanoid species are doing by wearing a piece of clothing in each of the main areas with modifiers, as well as stacking (I do know they don't stack in the same article of clothing, but do stack as different pieces are worn with the same modifier).

Also, still haven't gotten a straight answer about if you need base skills to modify with skill tapes or not. For instance, I have Camoflauge +15 in an article of clothing, but don't have the Ranger skill in my skill modifiers, so it'd look like Camoflauge: 0/+15. I'm thinking you have to have the skill itself otherwise you could potentially have a tape that lets you do something you don't have the ability to do otherwise. Anyone have a definitive answer on that one?

Thanks for all the help

Wookiees can use skill tapes on any item of clothing as long as it is socketed, and assuming it's a clothing skill tape. So yes you can "stack"

As to skill mods on 0 skills I don't think anyone really has a straight answer, but I'll try looking into it today if I can find something that I don't have that I can try using with a skill mod.

I was also wondering I have a number of tapes that are Poison Resistance 5 and Disease Resistance 1. Are these skills found in the professions or just general defenses applicable to any character's defensive modifiers? Once again, this seems to go to the +0/+5 Poison Resistance (for example) question of whether you need the base skill first for the mod to work.

Thanks all

From what I can tell from previous posts and practice with skill tapes and bio clothes, if it's a skill that you can earn in a profession (Take Cover, Injury Treatment, etc.) you need to have that skill to get the bonus.

But things like poison resistance and bleeding defense which have no skill to learn in the skill treesseem to work with the 0/+5 in my skills.

This is just my experience, I could be wrong

Thanks for the input, friend. I think you're right. It seems to follow. I looked through a listing for a all the skill modifiers and couldn't find any regarding things like Poison Resistance and the like. I think I'll save that one for myself =)

Thanks everyone

Another question on this topic: I know 2 different kinds of tapes with different mod levels will cause the higher one to cancel the lower giving you only its benefit. What if their mod levels are the same? Then do you get both skills modified correctly? Like: Heavy Weapon Speed +1 and Heavy Weapon Accuracy +1 in the same clothing item.

Thanks again

Speed and accuracy are different mods, so they should stack. I've dropped 3 tapes into a belt and had all but one skill work (that skill was lower than one already in the item)

Hold on though, the devs have said we get some wookie-love for clothing, so you might want to wait for the next patch this month to see what new clothes and enhancement changes they make.
