Tailor Archive
Thread: A Crossroads in My Business To Unlock, or Not to Unlock, That is the Problem.
I have been true to Tailoring for nearly 3 months now, but I am still very much wanting an FSCS....
If you were in my position - Would you drop Tailoring and risk going for the FSCS?
As of now, I think I'll hang on to it for a few more weeks, maybe a month or so, rack up some major cash, then drop what I have loved for so long.
God I feel dirty.
**edit** you SOE.
**edit** you.
Before you drop tailor find out what being a Jedi Initiate really is. I accidently met a new Jedi and found out several interesting things. First, if he uses a special he gets an automatic TEF, and we all know how a TEF works. Second, then be prepared to either hunt for hours or buy at high cost the various crystals to craft your sabers as you level up.(not all crystals are the same, Jedi can read stats on crystals that you cant) . Third also as I understand you may be the target of a bounty hunter mission that causes you to lose all your skills if you are killed.
And last and maybe worst, be prepared for MAJOR TELL HELL , as players find out you are a Jedi.
And all this after grinding several additional master professions, finding holocrons and then maybe even not unlocking when you do. As for me,,thanks but no thanks,,

All of that is completely true, but the fact of the matter is that is what I am looking forward to. The last frontier of this game is to acquire the title of Jedi, and I feel that it would be so much fun if it were hard like that.
Only problem is I really do value my profession, because I have such a wonderful customer base and I worked 2-3 months to get it.
God this is a hard decision.
As I came to understand it, the Jedi's were tied to various professions. Maybe you can keep tailor and try different secondary professions. I also read it had to do with AP xp as well.
Just a thought before dropping your favorite profession - as the thoughts had crossed my mind too.
But I also hate having to give up my Pistoleer and Scout and Medic and Mercant - oh man.......
I did this today:
Mastered Medic (just had to get one skill box.)
Dropped It
I could master artisan, but not enough AXP so...
Picked up Marksman, gonna get enough pistol to master scout and then drop it.
Then Master Marksman, drop it, or go after a holocron.
Master Entertainer, drop Merchant for a bit.
Master Image Designer, drop it.
Master Brawler.
If I'm not sortaclose to getting Jedi from that point, I'll just shoot myself and call it a day.
The best, somewhat believable thing i have been told/read is that you will have to master 2ish professions related to your beginning profession (I dont' even remember mine now...doh) and at least 1 that is totally unrelated, explaining why so many combat people are becoming chefs/tailors/id/dancers/de. Not sure, really tho. I think you should master whatever you are slightly close to now...then try the holocrons. may save you a few steps in the amazing journey. (and several millions) I may try also, but if it asks me to become master commando/teras kasi, too bad. not giving up tailor. =) I will buy another copy of the game first. =) But i am a little crazy and LOVE tailoring too much.

I don't think I could drop tailor because I love doing it, but I don't understand why you have to in order to unlock a FS slot. I think you can just go to another server and work on unlocking the slot. That way you can still tailor when you feel like it, and go over and visit friends, but you can also play on the other server and make new friends.
Eh. This isn't really an acceptableidea to many of us. I play on my server with my real-life friends. I moved cross-country not long ago, butit's great because Istill get to "see" everyone online. Sure I've met some cool new people, but to be honest, I'd hardly play at all if my guys weren't around. I wouldn't want a jedi if I had to open it on a server where my friends don't play, and I'm too attached to my current character to want to spend time with an alt.
This is the main reason I'm really disappointed in the currentFSsystem. It seems geared toward those who aren't all that invested in how they set up their character. You'd think that the kind of person really dedicated to their character would be more the type of person they want to be a jedi than the type who's happy randomly grinding and dropping professions on a whim.
So if we want FS, our options are to destroy our character concept, and have to spend slow time rebuilding it later, or to start a whole new character? Even if I did start a new character, I'd probably get attached to them too and by the time I was skilled enough to find or buy holocrons I'd resent having to changemy altalso...
For an interesting idea on how to make profession changes a little easier, check out this post:

Thats understandable. I also play with real life freinds, but it turns out that I end up playing my tailor character most of the time because it is more fun. Of course, I can see my friends any time I want to since we live in the same town, so I am not in the same situation as you are.
Interesting you say that. Want to hear the irony. I finally received my first Holocron. And you guessed it. I have to be a Master Tailor. At the moment im a BH/MCH.
Now you make think that I will hate giving up my BH or my MCH. But to be honest, the state of PVP is very unsatisfying so trying to craft for the first time has perked my interest. However I am completely in new territory.
So here's to a new experience.
