Thread: My wookie clothes issues an illustrated guide

Obviously wookies aren't blessed with a whole lot of options about what to wear. It really gets to me that many of those items we can wear, some of the best are graphically glitched. I know a lot of wookies seem to be oblivious but these things really get to me and my aesthetic sense.

For comparison here is a screen shot of my fur with nothing on.

http://www.io.com/~dugless/screens/plainwookie.jpg

Crested Battle Padding and Wookie Shoulder Pad:

Both of these items screw up the fur pattern on my torso. With the battle padding my entire front defaults to the lighter color in my fur pattern and becomes monotone. I literally have a line drawn across my midsection.

http://www.io.com/~dugless/screens/crestedwookie.jpg

The shoulder pad similarly changes my entire torso pattern but even more dramatically.

http://www.io.com/~dugless/screens/shoulderwookie.jpg

It makes it so I don't like wearing the battle padding without a belt or a waist wrap (and I'm not big on waist wraps). I won't even wear the shoulder pad because I hate the way it makes me look.

Also, when holding a gun the design of the crested battle padding distorts the left shoulder and ruins its look. This may not be fixable due simply to the design of the padding.

http://www.io.com/~dugless/screens/crestedgun.jpg

This happens slightly on the regular wookie battle padding but not so nearly to a pronounced degree (so I have no problem).

Sigiled Waist Wrap:

Hopefully this is a known bug but I'm including it anyway. The color palatte is broken since the last big publish and the actual wrap material itself will not change color. The color which used to control that now changes the color of the belt and flap which used to be permanently brown. I won't even stock these on my wookie vendor until they're fixed.

Big Strong Wookies:

I am as tall and as muscular as a wookie can be. And I suffer for it. Most wookies have problems with backpacks already. They don't usually appear to be worn on us, but instead seem to grow out of our backs.

http://www.io.com/~dugless/screens/backpack.jpg

This is only exascerbated by having a large avatar. For some people the scaling problems with bandoliers (and belts) is that they appear too big, seeming to float in the air around the character. For a big wookie bandoliers aren't large enough. Atwo strap bandolier just cuts right through my shoulders. Ugh. So no bandoliers for me either (though belts look fine).

http://www.io.com/~dugless/screens/bandolier.jpg

I don't know if anyone who's not a wookie would care about this, but from my perspective, I can make any player crafted clothing item in the game, but I'm limited as to what I can actually wear. Why do I (or any wookie) have to feel any MORE limited than I already am?

Chaka - I feel your pain (well..sort of).

I completely adore Wookies..the fluidity of movement, the language, the furrrrrr, everything about them. And I would love to be able to dress them decently. By that I don't mean that I'd want to dress up Wookies as though they were teddy bears in suits. I want our Wookie adornments to 'sit' correctly on them. While I can think of a lot of designs that would make great Wookie 'clothes', I'd settle for Wookies being able to wear what exists for them already without the graphic distortions you mentioned.

I totally agree with both of you! I have outfitted many wookies and I too wish they would just fix the 'bugs' before adding anything else at the moment. The sigiled waist wrap used to be a best seller, and the shoulder pad bugs are inexcusable.

The colors for the wraps are fixed on test and should be moving out to live shortly. The other bugs, well, definitly should be added to the grand list of graphical issues. One thing I particularly hate is how wookie wraps wear on big, portly wookiees.. they stretch and disform and look all distorted and muddied. Ugh! Hate that!

I won't even make or sell either the sigiled waist wraps or the shoulder pads, because of the bugs. I want the Wookiee Wear that people buy from me and my vendor to look the way it's supposed to look when it actually gets worn. The sigiled is particularly annoying, because, as Chiana pointed out, it was a big seller before it was broken.

Thanks for the info on the wraps Vandessa, I can't wait. Hadn't checked this post for a few days and was beginning to think no one cared about us furry beasts so thanks for the replies all.

The ones that get me the most are the pads that actually redraw my fur pattern. Sheesh. Maybe someday we can get some red too so I can get all these color starved wookies off my back.

I dont see why the art team or whoever don't want wookiees to have bright colors. Almost all the wookiees i know made one to stand out and be different... the others did it for extra stats but still would like to stand out and be different. Wookiees need at least some pieces that can be brightly colored.

First let me say they need to fix the current bugs to Wookie items, such as bandolears, fur color changes, etc.

But let the flame war start here...Wookies are not supposed to wear much clothing. The items they do have are supposed to be a primitive forest type. So that means no pants, no dresses, no formal clothing, etc. It also means no bright colors. All the Wookies seen in the movies (5 total), tv show (Holiday Special for those of you old enough to remember it) and in the books wear virtually nothing. Don't you think that is why Lucas Arts gave you very little to wear in the first place. For the many of you that say I don't care about the movies well then you may want to look for a new game. The Star Wars and Lucas empire has always been very focused on consistency, and as a fan I am glad they are. This is a STAR WARS game this is not the Sims. I do not mean to rant but the developers are following the Star Wars history and in that Wookies rarely wear clothes and the clothes they do wear is very primitive. So keep the existing items and NO BRIGHT COLORS.

I do want the devs to fix existing items. As a matter of fact I play a Trandoshian tailor who assists Wookies in any way possible. My character feels bad about what his race has done to the Wookies. (half teh readers go huh????.....and I then point at an Imperial Wookie and laugh). So my character makes lots of Wookie items and will go above and beyond customer service to make sure they have what they want.

I have to agree with you there.

Also, still not sure why people refuse to sell the sigiled waist wrap just because of a color bug. Do you refuse to sell all the other color-bugged items as well?

I truly feel your pain. I am a very tall buy rather scrawny wookiee. I am lucky not to have the backpack problem, and my belts look fine also. However: these days i only wear a variety of the Wookiee smocks/sages hoods/travellers helms. The issues with fur patterns and the total inabillity to get a complete set of wookiee clothing in the same colour for more than 1-2 colours is rediculous. We can have blue (the boring low lvl dull blue) on some items but not on others? Same goes for a few other colours. Please devs, change our colour palettes first, it is surely a very easy thing to implement thing (Im a master tailor but for some reason have something against making myself matching clothes *#&$*#&$). Then go fix the pattern issue with existing clothes. Then go make us some more fashionable stuff that complies with the previous two fixes

As it is atm i have only 3 outfits i wear on a regular basis:

My Imperial Wookiee Uniform. My Guild Coloured Robe/Hood. And for the occasional hunt i simply wear my favorite pair of gloves and a grenadier belt. Probably going to add a fisherman outfit to the list if i can come up with something that suits.

Very nice guide

As a wookiee, I agree that we are NOT meant to wear much. I would HATE to see wookiee shirts and pants of the normal variety. Of course, I am all for more wookiee clothing, as long as it remains distintively WOOKIEE (which the clothining we have now IS, I really like it).

One issue I am aware of, you cannot wear a Wookiee Smock at the same time as Tree-Dwellers hood. Just to add that to the list...

I think wookies might look good in sort of saggy, rumpled siggled chaps-like style pants.. like you see indians wearing in the old western movies
