Thread: Looted Clothing Attachment Pricing
I've stumbled onto someclothing attachments while looting, and I was wondering what the fair market price value is for such items.
Please advise. I don't want to rip off people, but I also do not want to be ripped off myself. LOL
No way to really generalize about the value of these. There are an awful lot of worthless ones, and some that are so valuable that people will pay tens of millions of credits for. Most of the ones I've "harvested" have been kind of boring +1 ones, and I've just been throwing those on my vendor priced at between 5k-50k depending on how desirable I think it is. I refuse to do the auction thing.
I have literally soldhundreds of tapestotalling millions of creditsfrom my vendor,,so here might be some hints that you might find helpful:
1. Learn which skill tree and profession the bonus applies ,the more knowledge you have about the skill and how it relates to the profession the more likely you can price it effectively. Some skills ,,ie rescue, even if its a high +9 tape wont sell for much more than base price and some skills like heavy weapon speed +9 would lilterally sell for millions to the right buyer. So you must become familiar with the skill and what it does, who uses or needs them and how many players are actually play that profession.
2. Skill attachments that have a bonus that is not available on a tree,or limited in values ,ie, poison resistance, knock down, ranged defense ,and other similar skill bonus will sell for 3-4 times your base price per point. ( my base price is 10000)
3. Weapon bonus attachments that increase damage, accuracy or speed will sell for2-3 times base price per point and more.
4. Assembly tapes will usually sell for 5 -10 times base price per point.
5. Experimentation tapes are the most valuable of all ,,,and a good guide on my server is one million per point. This would be especially true of armor, weapon and medicine exp tapes. Structure tapes are about 500k per point and clothing exp tapes are essentially worthless. Artisan tapes are the least valuable and are likely to sell for 250k.
6. Dont judge your market by watching your server trade forum, prices on the trade forum are almost always 1/3 to 1/2 what they would sell for on a vendor. (sometimes even less)
7. Most players trying to buy the high value tapes, will attempt to convince you that your price is too high, dont be fooled ,let the market determine if your price is too high,,and after 2-3 weeks at one price ,,and still isnt sold ,just reduce the ones that havent sold.
8. Skills that are available in bio clothing wont sell for much more than base price per point.
9. Anyone who says that +1 tapes and / or armor attachments wont sell ,,just plain doesnt know what they are talking about ,,they sell,,every day,,day after day.
10. Advertise your tapes by creating $3000 auctions on the bazaar and then in remarks have them email you for pricing, info and give them a waypoint to your shop so they can find you when they read the auction.
11. And last if you have an especially hard to price or valuable tape you want some advice about ,just pm me and I will be happy to try to give you my experience with that type of bonus,,
So I'm thinking about no longer selling them and instead just trading them to folks who seem RP oriented and making up some cryptic warnings...

<Shoots himself> hehe I had a +9 Combat Medic Experimentation tape, traded it for 100k and 15 units of milk. hehe would have prefered 9mil. credits. Oh well, such is life. ![]()
