Thread: What is your deal with your BE tissue supplier?

One of my guildmates just got master BE and I'm desperate to finally have a reliable tissue supplier. I can harvest the resources myself etc, but I'm mostly curious of what kind of deal you have with your tissue supplier, if you have one. Thanks in advance.

I have had a horrible time finding BEs on Starsider, even sending them polite emails asking if they would make me crates of tissues, charge me whatever, and I would supply the meats. No response.

So, at my urging, a guildmate mastered BE and he has been selling me crates of stuff for 50k (about cost for him really). I keep an eye out for large stacks of meats, etc, and give them to him when I have 1-2k of one kind of meat.

On another note, what is up with this price gouging in meats? I see stuff for 100cr each...and the other day I saw 3 eggs for sale for 3k. lol. I think not!

Splintt and I share the profits of BE clothing 50/50 and I sell all of his pet stims and clones on my vendors... well have, might not in the near future.

I used to pay him weekly, but now that he and I have more than enough credits, he gets paid on a monthly basis when I move my sales database to my accounts database. Overall it's a great partnership. I get tissues on demand and he gets to have a place to sell out of without having to find a merchant.

Isalasi is my supplier. Firstly, all clothing for her is free. and if I supply the components, all schematics are free for me. I buy most crates at about 25k to 75k each, depending on ingredients and the bonus to it. Cratesof tissue that use mollusks and eggs are the high end, anything with milk is a different story though...

We enjoy making the tissues together though. I find her eggs and meat around the galaxy when I'm hunting, and just give it to her. I don't really worry about prices. Sometimes we spend time chatting while we make tissues and clothes together.

The best time was when I had given her a bunch of milk to turn into a schematic of taming cloth. we crossed our fingers and looked away. My heart was thumping away in excitement, not knowing if she would get a critical or what would happen. It was fun! Just as she was about to tell me the result, my machine locked and I had to pull the power cord to reset it. (Darn devs and their client locks)

While I was desperately trying to get back on, I was worried that maybe she crashed too and the schematic was lost. Thankfully she made it!!! And I got a couple of crates of great taming cloth out of it.

Well they stink then Arthur...if you were on Scylla I would make you rich and you'd hear from me once a week I have 3 very reliable BEs who I can depend upon, I just place an order at the begin of the week and pick it up 7 days +/- later...there are also some very loose venders I know where to go and pick up anything stray. That's about it. In conversations with smart pc citizens sometimes Ill try and find if there are any, but I dont go hunting for them, cause I get about all I can handle...and the vendor maps on Syclla for them are sooo dry, but at least it makes it a challenge then to enter every dwelling in the galaxy looking for them hahaha

I used to pay 2.5-3K per tissue in crates, and it was worth every credit. Even when my BE got to be master, I didn't want to deal with the hassles of buying meat in large quanties (good quality, correct type). I pretty much stopped carrying BE items at all just from the headaches. Then I started working on a ranger/CH and found I was drowning in meat (and hides) from all the harvesting I was doing. So making the tissues became a lot easier.I started carrying the BE clothes again, and honestly I'm selling more BE than regular these days. I charge 500 creditsper point and add it to the regular price of the clothes item. When I was buying the tissues, I was charging a flat 6-7K for any item using 1 tissue, and not adding the price of the clothes - not very profitable but I was doing it more as a convenience to my customers than a profit center.

There is someone on my server selling +25 injury/wound treatment clothing for 184K credits and apparently can't keep thenin stock at that price. I'd really like to know what *he* is paying his BE, unless he also is one.

Two were the rude, spam every BE on the search enginekind who didn't even have the decency to send me a reply when I informed them of my prices and offerings.

Actually, I've heard that the same thing, more or less, was happening to several BE's on my server -- in one case, the poor fellow was giving away +15 cloths by the crate to combat types who had no idea what to use them for, simply because they couldn't sell them, and couldn't find any tailors interested.

Which amazed me, given that the demand for BE garments seems to be growing daily here. It's a real shame to see people treated that badly, and.. hey, if you're a BE on Scylla, I pay really well for +15 individual cloths! *grins*

... I forgot to answer the actual question... *laughs*

It's a little difficult, actually; my supplier is a guildmate, and so we don't have a 'regular arrangement', as regards costs. Now and then she'll throw me samples of some new tissues she's working on as freebies; I'll pay her in eggs (we've been running big enraged rancor hunts on Dathomir lately, which has netted some great egg stacks) and credits, and what I pay in credits is... pretty much whatever she asks, honestly. I think I've paid up to 50k for a crate of +5 tissues; I expect to pay a good deal more for +15 ones.

... 180+k for a single garment? Wow. Then again, with folks selling holocrons for upwards of 3million, I guess I shouldn't find this surprising.. *grins*

I've been a tag-wearing master tailor, and stealth BE for some time now, and just recently became a tag-wearing BE and a stealth tailor. The funny thing is that I've read threads like this for some time in the tailor forum where tailors were reportedly having such troubles finding reliable tissue suppliers. Supplying a high volume of tissues is a daunting task, but I figured that as primarily a BE I'd at least see what I could do and make this a regular part of my business.

Well, what I've found out is that tailors are hardly beating down my door for tissues. Despite spending a lot of my time in Coronet, and wearing the tag, and being in the search engine, I've had very few contacts from tailors requesting tissues. In fact, I've had exactly 3 queries from tailors in the last month regarding tissues. Two were the rude, spam every BE on the search enginekind who didn't even have the decency to send me a reply when I informed them of my prices and offerings. The third was an unreasonable, impatient tailor who ordered 2 of every tissue from me, I agreed informed him that I'd be able to fill the order just as fast as my factories would go, and could give him around 2 crates/day until the order was filled. He agreed, only to cancel most of the order a day later, after I had already made many of the tissues, stating simply that he had found another supplier who had them in stock.

So anyhow, that is from the BE's perspective on my server. I also have another master BE friend who is looking to be a supplier of tissue but no tailors to supply.

Well, I'll just say that I charge 20k for +25 medical clothing. Supplying my own tissues, my cost is probably 5k or less for it, so that's plenty of margin. However, you know what? In terms of the benefit to cost, 184k really isn't that unreasonable. Consider how useful that tissue is, and how much difference it makes to a player, then consider the cost of a clothing tape that gives nowhere near that much benefit and 184k suddenly starts looking like a bargain. Also, when comparing say a +25 taming and a +25 medical healing enhancement, I don't think there is any question which one bestows more benefit (especially since any CH who tames their own pet rather than getting a BE one is reducing their effectiveness tremendously). In fact it's not even close. Yet nobody blinks at a 100k-200k price tag for a CH tissue.

So anyhow, yea, 184k is outrageous in terms of markup, but probably a bargain in terms of the amount of benefit a customer gets for the money relative to other things.

That's my $0.02

From the other point of view, I've always found it hard to find BE tissues on Bria... Posting on the forums had no responses. Most BEs I contacted already supplied a tailor. A number of BEs accepted my order, but then decided they didn't want to make it after all (usually without informing me). The only reason I managed to stock BE clothing was scraping around for the odd tissue on pet stims vendors, and buying part-crates that the main tailor of the BE didn't want. The few BEs I found that would do that, gave up the profession after the clone changes. I've had to stop making BE clothing, and have only the odd tissue left now.

So if you or your friend are still looking for tailors to sell tissues too, I'm still looking for them. Even if it's just a once-off to clear out excess tissue stock, anything would help me. I'm Jazirah in game.
