Thread: and I knew he was going to be cheap when he didn't want to pay the door fee...
So I am in my shop last night fixing up the place when i get a /tell from someone who wishes to place an order for some clothes.. I tell him that yes i can make what he requested (mostly field wear stuff) and gave him the WP to my shop. While i am looking around my shop for polymer(need to get better orginized hehe), i see him on the radar and i guess he stops as the Entrance Fee notifies him about the entry fee. He then sends me a tell saying "I am not going to pay your high entry fee" and since i haven't checked my fee in awhile i asked him what was it (because i know it was very low) and he says "25c"..and i am telling myself 25 credits is NOTHING but pocket change and i figured oh boy this guy is gonna be cheap. I then gave otu a sigh and added him to the friends list and explained to him that we get merchant xps every time they pay the fee and he's like "look at my title", "which read novice merchant" but earlier he had on "Apprentace Swordsman" and giving me a hoot lecutre about merchant blah blah. So i tell him that i am going to start working on the order now and feel free to look around and to ask any questions that i would be more than happy to answer for him.
During the order process , i accedently reverted the colors on one shirt because i was destracted by his /tell's. So I finish the order and put it on the vendor and tell him to check the vendor. He then goes off and starts complaining how expensive my stuff is..and i go ahead and tell him that I charge fairly and that i have my own fees to pay(matienace and so on) and that my prices are very resonible from what my other good customers have told me. Then he goes on to tell me that he is buying for 20 some people and he needs a cheaper price because he's buying in bulk...I asked him if it was for his guild and didn't answer me(if it was I could always have my factory pump out the same stuff but it would take a few hours) and he said i was to expensive and said NM after i made all that crappy stuff for him. I then sent him a /tell saying "please don't ask for discounts as my prices are as good as it gets" and he tells me that i am nuts to charge what i do charge. and of course i replied back saying he is more than welcome to go to any other tailor and get the stuff for a cheaper price, but most of them do not understand how to figure cost of making the stuff into the final price of there products(On my server there is this one master tailor who sells everything , including master items for 500c!!!!! She is NUTS!)..but i don't charge 5k for a simple shirt..as a mater of fact someone can get a complete outfit for less than 8k in my store and i am not even a master yet (Field Wear 4, Causal Wear 1, Tailor 2 and Novice BE)..Yes eventually when i intergrate more BE stuff into the clothes my prices will go up, but it will still be affortible.
So anyone else here have a "Cheap as*" at the door story?
One thing you might try in the future is to give the total before you send out the WP... something like "sure, I'd be glad to make XYZ items for you... the total will be 123... let me know when you want to visit my shop and I'll send you the WP and get started on it..." Or something similiar...
As you gain more experience with dealing with weenies you'll be better able to **edit** that kind of behavior in the bud..
