Heres a list of my problems. I'm too grumpy to not write run on sentences. So I'll put it this way

1. I'm bloody sick of making the same outfit for every n00b pwnz0r that walks in my shop RIGHT THEN or "I'll GO TO ANOTHER TAYLRO!"

2. I'm tired of people assuming I can pull bio engineered tissues from my butt to make them their item RIGHT THEN. Ialso had one person ask me 4 times for a crested battle padding with resist mods in it. I tried to explain to them 3 times that those could only go into the wookiee shoulder pad and a bandolier, explained what that pad looked like and still got my 4th mail "I want bleed in crested battle padding please" Sheesh.

3. I can't walk into town (Note. I never ever EVER wear my master tailor title) without someone that's seen my name on clothes wanting an outfit right then. They refuse to mail an order. when I say I can't do it at the moment can you mail it? "Oh ok fine I'll get someone else to do it"

4. I'm tired of my "friends" that are just my "friends" because I can tailor. I mean... people that don't talk to me for 2 weeks and /tell me out of the blue"Hey there karma sweetie how have you been doing? whats up? you busy? i need clothes!" (I tell them I'm busy at the moment) "Oh karma I thought we were chill! I really need those red and black paramilitary camos right now! Some friend you are!"

5. I'm sick of no thank you's. I go out of my way with most people to help them leave my shop without looking like total gimps. I throw in minor accessories, sometimes even an inexpensive shirt if they buy a nice jacket and pants or something. Sometimes they walk off without even saying bye...

6. I'm tired of armorsmiths getting mad when my factories are busy and I can't run RFP's for them (Or if i just don't want to which is usually the case) I have 1 friend that i will loan a crate or two. I got offered 1k a crate for them (without materials) by 2 different multi-millionaire armorsmiths. NO WAY. Others have offered 3 or 4k. I just don't want to make it a habit. I have enough work to do without keeping up with how many panels they have too. Besides, it's good money for a newbie.

Ok. phew. I feel a little better after getting all that out. I know this is kind of my own decision, but what do you guys think I should do?

I've thought about giving up doing custom orders at all and keeping about double the items in my vendor. (I keep at least 200 items usually), Maybe charging more for custom orders? Maybe telling both the rude AND the just annoying customers to find a new tailor? *has one in mind* I know im gonna cut out the BE customs for awhile because I will never get left alone if i don't.

Do you guys think I'm out of line? I mean... I'm paying to work right now =(

Raise your prices.

Doing this really improved the quality of my customers. Never really encouraged moochers to latch on to me, so I don't know what to tell you there - the only person that I do make free clothes for keeps stealth-paying me by buying stuff off my vendors, and leaving large stacks of hide with my vendor.

But seriously, raise your prices, and if a customer wants something NOW and you don't want to, simply tell them that you're backlogged on orders, and that they should email you. Mention your turnaround time on order completion, and don't even hint at the possibility that this isn't the way you usually accept orders.

Are you still on tatooine? You should try moving to another planet, its sad to hear your story, I always thought you dealt with your customers in a very nice way.

I hope it all works out, I think a new planet is the easiest way, tatooine does tend to have a lot of *&"£^&*"^%("^£% on it!

Raise your prices and dont be reluctant to say no,,i dont have time,,,

You likely have enough credits to buy anything you want any way,,,have some fun,,

One other idea ,,you can add a afk message ,,,this is especially helpful in a crafting session when you really dont want to be disturbed,,and lose concentration,,and the message can be ,,(afk ,,i am in a crafting session and am very busy,,please email me with either your question or your order,,and i will respond shortly)

I find this message not only helps me be more efficient but also is a polite way of informing players that you actually want to help them,,but just cant right this minute,,and they seem to understand,,

I charge more than someone 100m away lol. like TWICE as much. I think while i was sleeping someone implanted an idiot magnet somewhere in my body and its working real well.

And yes, still on tatooine. I realllllllllly dont want to move to naboo or rori or talus or corellia for various reasons.

I decided on a new AFK message earlier tonight. It simply says "No."

If you have little free time, raise your prices. If your factories are busy all the time, sell schematics instead (or yes, just refer the ASs to a novice). You may just want to pop a small shop on other planets to test out the market, may turn out to be less trouble with better people, tho you don't have to live there. Go ahead and experiment a primarily vendor operation, keep custom orders limited, see if you like it. I spend most of my time on AFK, always busy restocking or whatever, my msg gives shop coords. and asks for emails.

I don't get many rude ones, but plenty of no thank yous, I just shrug those off as there will always be those sorts of people. But don't be afraid of telling them to go to another tailor. Need to keep the customers that are worth keeping, and there are still plenty more out there to replace the ones that you turn away.

do what i do, go play on another server, and come back every day or two to restock vendors and fill orders. if people get pushy, tell them to go away and find another tailor. i heard from a friend that a bunch of tailors have been quitting, so we're gonna be busier now @.@

Lately what I have been doing, is not accepting any NEW clients for bio clothing. If they want bio clothing they have to buy from my vendors or I suggest 2 other tailors.

If they have been good loyal customers then I will continue making BE clothes for them. They actually feel special because of this and are always greatful.

If I decide to take on a new client, I will fill the order when I am good and ready. I've had orders waiting for 2 days but they will need to wait one more day. I normally send a quick email to see if they still want it. If they don't respond, I don't fill the order, and everyone is happy. If they respond I then make the item and leave on my vendor.

I work on MY time now, not when they want me to. I'm sure it pisses some people off but it really can't be helped otherwise I'd be burned out again in a heart beat.

I think crafters need to set general working hours, maybe post them. No one in real life works as much as us crafters are expected to in SWG.. kind of funny isn't it.

It's a game. It shouldn't be work.

I don't have a huge customer base, I don't get many custom orders nor do I get tells or emails for clothes. As far as everyone else is concerned Abzintia the Human Master Tailor doesn't exisit (well I also don't play more than 5 hours a week or so)

My point is, it's your game, your character...just do what you want. The only reason I wanted to be Master Tailor was to be able to make myself and my guild mates clothes. :-) It's all about the clothes!

Once in awhile I'll get a customer and I do my Tailor thing and help them out, but there is no way in heck I'm going to stress for someone else. You shouldn't either.

If you're worried about making money, trust me money is pretty worthless in this game after you've mastered what you've wanted, have all the houses you want and all the materials and clothes you could ever want. Take it easy hun...if the customers are still being petty and whiny, just blast them with a lecture on RESPECT. :-) *hehe*

I can't help you. You've already turned down what I would advise - get the heck off of Tatooine. It's a heck-hole. You don't have to flee as far as I do (Rori). You'd be much better off picking one of the smaller towns on Naboo, though.

Failing that, yeah, take a vacation. Empty the vendors out, store the harvesters in the bank, prepay a bit more than a week's maintenance on the other buildings, and go play an entertainer or a scout/marksman or something completely unrelated on another server. Or heck, take your vacation on the test center. By the time you get back, they'll be bullying and mooching off of someone else.

Sounds like you're seriously burnt out. All I can say is "if it hurts, don't do it". I haven't been a master very long, and have gotten overwhelmed already at times, but things are still good for me. If I ever get to the point where it sounds like you are at, I'd probably consider a major change, like starting up a new profession. No sense at all in doing something you're not enjoying.

Handling nimrod players is easy. Just increase the price of whatever item they want by ten-fold. If they leave, mission accomplished. If they actually pay, well you just turned the tables on them.

Really, though, if you're not having fun with Tailoring, so what I did. Stop. Not necessarily permanently, but at least for a week or so. Wander around, shoot things, entertain, raise critters, or just flat out don't play SWG. If you really like playing, you'll know after about week. You'll start Jones'n reeeeal bad for it. And it'll be fun all over again when you come back.
