Thread: Thinking about becoming a tailor...

I have created an alt-character to try out some crafting fun. Out of all the profession I find tailor the most interesting. I realize that the profession probably isn't the biggest money maker, but looks like a lot of fun. I have never done a crafting profession out of the hologrind setting... what are some pointers you guys might offer me? I am also thinking about either keeping Master Merchant or going 4004 merchant and trying something else. Any suggestions?

Tailor really is great fun so I'd say go for it. You can make enough money at it to be self-supporting although you probably won't become a mega-multi-millionaire. It has the big advantage over other crafting profs that resource quality isn't important so you can spend your timemaking clotheserather than resource gathering.
In terms of other profs to complement it, I'd go with Merchant but make sure you get Hiring IV so you can customise your NPCs. It always looks odd to me to see a Tailor vendor wearing default NPC clothes. I like to dress my vendors in eye-catching outfits - seems a fitting thing for a tailor to do.

Tailor is one of the enjoyable crafting professions I think, its not as complicated as the other's with the 100's of sub components and picky resources. Tailoring does have some small specific resources like the fancy headress for Twi's but other than that you really dont have to go all over to search for stuff to make clothes. All of your crafting stems from artisan or the elite and noble profession itself. You will not need a master artisan to make you a component for this and a DE for another unless you are crafting the looted schematic items. Master Tailor has been my profession for almost 2 years now and I enjoy making clothes for myself and other's as many many moons ago as a newb on Naboo there were not very many Tailors on Corbantis and it has been my calling ever since (even as much as I complain about the bugs and stuff being broken)
