Tailor Archive

Thread: I just read the FAQ (Yay for me!) and I have a question.

Yes, I am a closet tailor. It takes a full time alt to keep me looking so good!

*ahem*

I was wondering if, in the FAQ, the resources needed list (under Materials and Equipment) was sorted by relative usage within the profession. Steel is listed highed than Gemstone and Gemstone is listed higher than hide. Does this mean I will generally use more steel than hide, or is the list random?

random

Fiberplast

Inertpetro

Hide

Metals

gemstone

would be the rougher by usage list

EDIT:this is list there :

  • Fiberplast
  • Polymer - though many items will accept lubricating oil, others will not. Best to just mine Polymer
  • Steel
  • Copper
  • Metals of any type (though it's more efficient to just mine steel or copper
  • Amorphous Gemstone
  • Crystalline Gemstone
  • Wooly Hides
  • Bristley Hides
  • Any Hides
  • Iron (in small amounts)
  • Ore (in small amounts)
  • Bone (in small amounts)
  • Avian meat (in small amounts)

Well... The big ones are polymer and fiberplast. After that it sort of depends on what you are doing. For example: if you make a lot of ball gowns or jewelry, you will use a lot of gemstone. If you really like basic camos, you will use a lot of hide. So for non-chemicals, assume you need moderate amounts, except where I have listed them as "small amounts".

Also some generics can go for specifics. For example, many recipes take metal, and other recipes take specifically "steel" or "copper". So why would you ever stock aluminum? Always just mine steel and copper.

I'm guessing for your purposes, you will end up using a lot of hide and metal, but not a lot of steel specifically or gemstones.

Its random, but the order listed is almost the same as the importance of the resource. Basically the only change is that "any hide" should probably be higher than the specific hides, but if you go collect some Tatooine Wooly hide off of banthas you can get most of the hide you need out of that one batch. The only other ingredient I saw that was missing from the list was Rori fungus, which I think is used for one of the loot schematic backpacks.

The specific copper for the leotard isn't in there either because I didn't want to confuse new tailors who may run off looking for those items not realizing that they are not necessary for normal clothing. Those special materials are included in the "looted schematics" article. I figure if someone is doing looted schems, he or she will read up on that.

sadly, he did. once. though he claims it was a dangerous combination of Madalorian Wine, Vasarian Brandy, Muon Gold and Giggledust that prompted him to do it.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.
