Yeah yeah, another post about clothing decay but bear with me.

I... like all other non tailors in the game do not care for this idea at all. I bought something, paid what should be considered an outlandish price for a shirt.... and now its going to one day blow up on me? Nah, thats not a good plan at all. I paid 2000 creds for a Muscle Shirt.... that thing should last forever. Add clothing decay on all my clothes and its just gonna force me to start making my own or run around in my underwear.

So, there needs to be a solutionright? i have a viable one. Make clothing functional above what it is now. Grant upgrade slots that actually help out. Then, make those upgrade slots decay over time.

Have a pair of hotpants upgraded to where they lower action costs for entertainer specials.

Make a Muscle Shirt that lowers HAM encumberance when i do my special moves.

Doctors could have hats that lower the hits they take to the Mind pool slightly.

You do something like this and youve got a guy that will travel the globe to find the best clothes he can. You make clothing just decay and im going to kill womp rats and just make my own pants.

Special upgrade slot decay is just one thing that could be done. Another thing is the addition of clothing on a regular basis that the Tailor is capable of making. Give those dancers new things to look pretty in, give me something new to hunt or bust heads in.

Something that i havent seen anyone consider before is, why would someone pay alot of money for an item that will decay? When/if clothing decay hits, be prepared to lower your prices dramtically. i for one will not pay alot of creds for a shirt that wont last. Do all of you guys really want to have to lower your prices to stay in business?

I think that tailors are important to the game. You guys help add flavor to the game visually more so than i can do with my tall green lizard butt. I just dont want clothing to become a pain in the butt.

In summation-

  1. New clothing to wear and purchase

  2. Upgrade slots that add functionalty worth having that would degrade over time, requiring the attention of a tailor to fix.

  3. Be prepared for an outcry if clothing starts to decay and prices arent drammatically lowered to compensate (and then the tailor will just lose here, not alot of money will be made)

  4. I like clothing, i like the tailors ive come into contact with... but i am prepared to keep novice artisan and make my own clothing if decay is a huge pain.

Hope i dont get flamed

I just don't understand why some folks have a huge issue with clothing decay. Most tailors seem to want use-based decay. Which means that clothing would only decay while you're wearing it and while you're online.

And we don't want decay to be super-fast. My ideal decay rate would have an outfit worn by an average player last a month to a month and a half (if they wore the same thing that whole time). The expense of clothes isn't really a good excuse, credits in this game are ridiculously easy to get if you're actually trying. I regularly see posts about people whining that they don't know what to do with all of their money. Are you really saying that it would be too expensive to buy a new outfit for your character once a month?

You'd really rather be a Novice Artisan and make your own ugly clothing once a month instead of supporting the player economy? That's just silly. Your guns decay. Are you saying you'd rather just start making your own CDEFs from now on?

Its ok Donnah, some people just dont understand what it means to have a "player-based economy" or what it means to support that economy.

How about we remove decay from armor and weapons, you know how I hate to have to buy a new gun and all, thats really a pain in my butt.

I also want to remove decay from my HAM bars.

I mean what is the deal with getting hit by a rouge famba and then having to pay a medic to heal me?

mochloD, I would there to be no decay too.

I'm a Tailor/TKA myself.

I paid 6k for my vibro knucklers and 30k for a full suit chitin armor. I think they should last forever x3 and x15, respectively.

It's funny how they listen to the community on certain things and disregard the whole on others. I am a tailor and TKA (melee) and it seems i am always the one getting the end of the stick, no matter the profession.

I just think non-tailors don't understand that our 'uber outfits' that we make respectivly cost as much as other crafting items because we use the same ammount a resources. Why should we charge 1:1 Resource price for our stuff while Joe Weaponsmith can charge 5:1 or even more?

We all still have to pay the same for our harvesters, our homes and our hides.

Simple as that.

I'd like someone to explain to me why a muscle shirt should last forever? In fact, explain to me why anything should last forever? You have interesting ideas, but everything after this comment is just tainted.

I can make 2000cr in less than half an hour doing scouting, survey, destroy or delivery missions. Why should a shirt I buy with that money last forever?

I bought a pistol the other day for 14k. It was a good day's worth of credits as a Tailor. I know it's going to decay and I don't complain because, 1) I realise that stuff has towear away to create turn over, and 2)I'm not that selfish.

There has to be turnover for every business in the game. Accept it and move on. Your clothes don't last forever in real life, and they shouldn't in the game.

Another meathead throws in his 2 cents on something about which he knows nothing. It's a good thing SOE doesn't cater to these guys...oh wait a minute...what did I just say?
