Thread: MASTER TAILORS CHARGE MORE! :)

Master Tailors think about this please; We all under charge for our goods especially the Bio Clothes. Doctor buffs on the Radiant server go for on average 6k and they last anywhere from 2 to 3hours. Mind buffs go for 10k and are good for around 2hours. Go to most weapon venders and any weapon thats any good will be at least 15k some are much much higher. I would say that bio clothes are equal to slices so a sliced weapon may be 50-100k . Do i have to even talk about top of the line Armor? How about the new Chef foods? The Brandy sells for 50k a crate if its Bio enhanced its selling for 300K! I have bought the Fishak before the new foods for 60k a crate.
Now to us. It takes Two people to make Bio Clothes the BE and the Master Tailor. So thats two factories, numerous resources, and a good deal of time. In the end only the Master Tailor can make the BE clothes. BE clothes are popular, especially ones that can be worn with armor and have stun def. They also dont have the encumberances that armor has. Also, unlike buffs and chef food they are long lasting and in the end people can also turn around and sell them and get some of the money they put out back. They also can be customized
So my question is why are our top of the line Bio clothes not as much as a case of brandy? If i tried to sell a bio special opps duster for 50k on my vendor I wouldnt get it because some dam tailor has one selling for 15k. Why? I mean our clothes are a sought after product that can only be made by master tailors. People pay good money for good weapons, armor, and food they should pay well for our bio clothes.
What im asking is go around to various vendors and look at what top Weapons, Armor, and Food goes for and then compare the prices to our top of the line stuff.
Ty.
*shrugs* I sell bio clothes for 50+K regularly…it all depends on what they want, and what they want it in. You want a +25 Injury/Wound Treatment shirt? It'll run 53Kcr or so. On the other hand, if all you want is a +4 Melee/+17 Stun shirt, it's only going to cost 17Kcr or so. To me it's a matter of time, effort, and cost. It doesn't cost me very much to make clothing, not even BE clothing. It doesn't take me very much time to find the materials I need. So that leaves us with effort, and that varies by customer—some are real easy, some are real hard. I try to price about in the middle so I'm not charging the good customers for the bad ones, if that makes sense. ![]()
Armorsmiths and weaponsmiths, on the other hand, need to spend a lot of time getting just the right resources, and then regetting them when something better comes along. They have to perfect experimentation on not only the finished product, but on the components. Sure, once they get it just right they can factory run the finished products (wish I could do that) but I would guess that they spend a lot more time doing prep and side-work than we do. Yes, we have to make almost every finished product by hand (except packs, the chef stuff, some of the jewelry) but I don't think the time spent making the finished products comes anywhere near the time spent by the experimental crafters in tracking down and harvesting resources, not to mention simply waiting for them to spawn at all.
Final point: dead horse. Being beaten. Repeatedly.
This is what I charge: 2k under what it is.
Example a +14/+14 shirt goes for 12k.
+25/+25 music/entertainer hotpants is 23k
I think Im charging too little.
When I do custom items that require "wasting" tissues in factory crate slots I charge more like 40k and up, and it could be considerably higher depending on the item and the final bonus.
I have a hard time believing you can't get folks to pay 50k for high end BE clothes! And yes, I play on Radiant. I mean, we've all had our share of cheap customers, but money is so easy to get in this game. The average person who needs BE clothes in the first place can easily afford to pay that much for them, and I've found very few people who shop around for the best price on high end stuff like that. Some customers seem to buy no matter what the price from somewhere it's very convenient, and others travel the galaxy to get to the shop of someone they really like.
I've been tipped an extra 50k after making high end custom BE outfits on more than one occasion. So there are plenty of people willing to pay the big bucks. if I were you I'd just stop worrying about what the cheap customers think of your prices and try and find a cooler (or maybe richer) customer base.
Hi all fellow Tailors. I hope this helps with charging prices-
I charge 3cpu for each resource it costs to make the product. Example- 30 units of polymer = 90cr.
I then charge 4cpu for each biological resource it costs to make the product. Example- 20 units of hide = 80cr.
I then add up the total of all the resources and multiply 500% or, for the layman multiply times 5.
For example a Desert Command Jacket is sold by me for 2025cr. It has 405cr worth of material in it. That is the base cost of what it would take for me to make. I have never had any complaints so far as to the pricing of my products. AndI figure this is a very fair way to price every piece of clothing that I make. It ensures consistency.
Now as for the Bio-enhanced clothes-
I buy a very well put together crate of enhancements at about 50k a crate. That is 25 enhancements a crate which equals out to 2k an enhancement. Also, if it is a really good CH enhancement, then it's 3k an enhancement.
It doesn't matter what you buy it for.....always charge for what you buy it for. It's fair......So, If I make a 25/25 pair of thin striped slacks. That's 2 enhancements at 2k each = 4k....I just tack that onto the base price then multiply by 5. Yeah, it's going to be a 20k pair of pants at least....but think of how often you get a critical failure(especially with a 2k credit enhancement, or two), your shopmaintenance costs, vendor costs(if you have them). Harvester costs(if you have them)....not to mention the endless hours it takes to make crates of cloth, fasteners, soles, reinforced fiberplast panel, and all the other crated components we need. Now think of how long this piece of clothing lasts. If the player is smart, and doesn't get killed often the piece of clothing could last weeks, if not months. That is MUCH better than any buff.
And, if a customer buys a large order of enhanced clothing I usually give them a discount anyway, so that the price isn't too sky-rocketed. Then they also know that you're doing them a favor and will likely come back to you when they have another order.
Also, courtesy is everything. I have customers coming back to me all the time because I was so helpful or patient on our first encounter. If someone is rude to you on an order, or think that they are being jipped tell them to ask around first for the best price...if your price seems to high to them let them know (in a nice way) how much it takes to make good clothing.
Anywho..I'm done now....I hope I helped somewhat ![]()

Mastered- Scout, Marksman, Smuggler(1st holo), Tailor(2nd holo), (3rd holo silent), Medic, Artisan, Entertainer, Merchant.
I sell all the be clothing i care to make and my be seems to think that i still overwork him ,,,hehe
I use a base price of 15,000 per panel and just add up the panels used to make what ever the item is and never once has someone complained about my pricing, they are just happy its there for them to buy. A well stocked vendor is the key, not how much you charge.
PS all my tissues are +15 or greater
