Thread: Forced Color Blending

Forgive me if I've missed an obvious post on this subject, but so far I've seen it mentioned only a few times in other threads. One of the issues I'd like to see resolved is the forced blending of colors in certain schematics which either force you to use uniform colors or find some color combination that doesn't look 'too bad'. For items like the grand ball gown, I think it looks very nice. Even the spec-ops duster allows some interesting blending patterns, but for other items, such as the dress uniform jacket, swoop helm, and robe of honor for example, I'm generally disappointed with the blended areas. For the dress uniform jacket I always end up coloring the chest and arms the same so that I don't get weird colored shoulders. For the swoop helm and robe of honor, I'd like like to create some contrasting color regions, but I can't because they end up getting blended in some areas - especially with the robe of honor which I tend to have a hard time coloring to my satisfaction when trying to use two colors. I'd love to make one that's a bright primary color with black trim, but I can't because all the trim areas get softened with the primary color, and some of the primary color areas get darkened to varying degrees from the black.

My suggestion would be to have color blending as an option on such items. Turn it on to get the same blending that we have now, or turn it off and the regions will receive only one color.

I had that problem with the robe of honor. A guy wanted a red and black one. Second favorite color choice to all black. Either way I put the colors, it looked about 90% red and 10% black. Sometimes the blending just does not work.

I hate that on the robe of honor. I want to be able to make a black one with silver trim, not a faded black with muddy grey trim. *sigh*

The suit shirt does this too. I'd have sold a lot more if people could actually look like the guys from Reservoir Dogs or Spike Spiegel. But alas, the tie color auto-blends with the shirt color.
