And by the way, he posted that while I was composing my privacy post for the corre boards, so after I posted it on the corre boards, man did I feel like a dork...
I could actually function with this in place

If we could not appear in people's list who are not on our friend list it would be nice, if it's for everyone... I won't use it.

I agree, man, use this feature with cuation. It seems pretty unfriendly and anti-social to me. True, there are times when I wish I could just be invisible to a person who is pestering me, but I wouldn't want to do that to friends.
YAY!!!! I have been wanting this for a very long time lol.
I disagree with this being anti-social. When I come home from a long day at work, I run around doing some chores, cook dinner, I sit down to this game and want a few minutes to myself. I personally like a few minutes when i first log in to be undisturbed so i can check my vendors, factories, do custom orders, etc. This is not a way of hiding from my friends. In real life do you work 24 hours a day? I don't and I refuse to in game. When you are a known crafter you will get tellsthe entire time being logged in from some who understand that you cannot do their order now and are patient, then you get tells from the others who want it right now. most of the time my worst*tell hell* time is right when i log in.Not to mention how much this slows me down when I am currently working with a customer, doing my custom orders, checking factories, or stocking. I don't think there is anything wrong with mehaving an hour here and there when i am *off duty*, they can use my vendors at that time 
not to mention when i am getting ready to log out for bed and i get the *can you make me a *thingy* right now? lol Personally rarely do the afk messageunless i am really afk or extremely burnt out.As far as friends,my friends are mostly all in my guild so they will know when i'm online
And just to add, i love my customers and love dealing with them, but they do not know the times when i need a break or just want to spend time with my game hubby. This feature will only give me the opportunity to be more in the mood for them and give them the service they are looking for
Needless to say I think this is a very needed feature, people do need a break sometimes. I can't imagine the tells a good weaponsmith gets.. i get enough to make me fear logging in somedays lol. We all just want to enjoy the game not just craft our fingers to the bone every second

I can understand where you are coming from but.. this is the first MMO I've ever played W/O this function.
There are times, like when you are winding down at the end or your day (or play session) when it is nice to turn the world off, reflect on your day and what you'd like to accomplish tomorrow, and enjoy some peace and quiet. For us tailors/crafters who are always on the go, a true anon is the only way to get this.
I feel it is a very important tool to making my game more enjoyable. I will say that when I've seen this tool used successfully, you were able to still send /tells to whomever you wanted while anon. If that is the case then you just have to pop your friends a quick note that you are there if they need you but have turned the world off for some quiet time.

This feature will definately help me organize my online timemuch better. Right now it's hard to just 'craft' clothes if I want to, as I always get interrupted.
Finally I will be able to log in, decorate my house without being disturbed, or go shopping without being disturbed and perhaps be able to load my vendors, so my selection will be much better.
I am in favor of a privacy feature and I feel it's about time we got one! In real life, you have can lock your doors and ignore the phone, in game its pretty hard to actually get any 'private time' at all.

I just want something very simple. I would like some kind of privacy option. At times I avoid logging in because of too many tells. There needs to be a way for players to control their online time a little more. I can use the afk message but it doesn't stop the tells and then people think I am being rude and as Mayor and Tailor I do not want to appear rude but at the same time, I would like to do other things with my time so a privacy feature is really becoming a must. I experience burn-out because there is no way to escape in the game if I want to experience other parts of the game.
