Thread: Nivea's Outfits Pricing Compilation

I can speak for only the peopel like me personally, if I went to your shop and was charged 12k and the shop up the road charged 6k for the same item and the service difference was negligable it is the shop with the 6k items tha tI waypoint, and it is THAT waypoint I distribute to my friends when they ask me where I bougth my cloths.
I understand exactly what you're saying, but I think we're just approaching tailoring differently. Ihonestly I don't care if I get more referrals or a higher volume of sales than some of the lower priced places. I don't care about my "market share" or whatever. I love making clothes, and I love working with customers. But I also like to travel, hunt with my friends, and kill the occasional imp camp.
So if I was a low priced, super in-demand tailor I'd spend too much time stocking my vendor and replying to /tells. It's the same reason I almost always take my tailor tag off when I log in.
My business and other persuits are balanced perfectly for me right now. I get steady traffic from my regulars and the friends they bring to meet me, and my vendor and bazaar sales go at a decent rate. But by charging higher prices, I can take the time to give my full attention to each customer. And I can take time to run off to Yavin IV to visit the sith temple, or go do some theme park missions. I never want a high enough volume business to make me feel like I'm too busy to run off and do something else.
That's the main reason I don't understand the people charging superlow prices. Don't they get too busy to do anything else that's fun? I know tailoring is fun, but if it's the only thing I did while playing, I think I'd get incredibly sick of it.
Of course the cheaper people aregoing to get more business than me, I expect most folks will go for the deal. I cater to people who would rather have someone spend areally long timeworking on an outfit with them. Or the people who are so rich they really don't care what things they want cost. And as I said, I have repeat business. Those customers who keep coming back to me must have run into cheaper tailors (there's one that actually justplanted her shop about 200m from mine, just a little bit closer to Keren, thanks for that whoever you are
). But they keep coming to me, so there are at least some folks that think I'm worth it.
My prices are really close to Nivea's, the only thing that stood out was she charges 2.5 for the bustiers and I charge 4.5 (sell so fast I cant keep it stocked) other than that almost exactly the same ![]()
Which is good, since we are on the same server ![]()
One thing I notice about your site (looks great!) is that you dont have the master level color pallet with 200 colors in it on there.
Oh and something I just noticed after the patch, you have to withdraw, actually retrieve into your inventory and resell your clothes so they will show up in the clothing section. If you dont they are in Misc and no one will see them unless they have all items checked ![]()
I always forget to say.. this is Cherish on Eclipse ![]()
my shop 788 -5420 outside of Coronet
Oh and some other tailor was spreading rumors I was undercutting and selling lekku wraps for 750
Sooo not true 4.5k for those babies
I definately do not undercut in case anyone else has heard that, my 4th level items are at 4-5k and my master stuff is between 10-15k
I LIKE making lots of money
and I feel my time is worth it, and all the effort and cost to get to master
I think your Bounty Hunters packs are way to low. I have been playing since the game first came out and this is the first time I have ever gotten my hands on thoranium steel to make the packs.
Chiana
I still have no clue where to find some but believe me once I do my packs will go for quite a bit ![]()
I love this list (printing it out now) and it sure seems to be in line with the general range of prices I've seen on Intrepid, both on the bazaar and at vendors (excluding the newbie posted lowball prices).
I like to travel around and I price check the bazaars and vendors everywhere I go. What bothers me is the wide disparity in prices that I know must confuse and frustrate buyers as much as it does the tailors. Add to that the recent massive shift in the economy and the doubt about whether prices will fall and stay there, finding a new median, or will they restabilize to where they were after a little wobble? I am really unsure what prices to set in this current market. With the item limit, how many customers will use space on clothing?
As a brand new merchant with a shop open only a few days, the urge to drop prices is overwhelming but for the fact that once you go down, it's that much harder to go back up. Server economies differ as well, but with so many playing on other servers, don't you think a common pricing range will ripple across the "galaxies" over time?
This issue of setting prices has been and will always be a hot topic of debate, especially right now when one master tailor's products are exactly the same as another's. For most people, it's hard to even see the difference between a novice and master tailor's products. Most master tailors' clothing has 4 sockets, but right now, 99.9% of the people don't care.
The differences areintangible and includefactorslike quality of service, reliability, reputation and convenience. On top of that, some master tailors are true businessmen and strive to create the most profitable business, while others are perfectly happy as long as they have enough customers to cover their daily expenses.
Do I want to make more money? Sure. Do I want to spend 10 hours a day filling orders? No way. Every person has a balance between having fun being a tailor and having it become a job. Even when the economy starts stabilizing, there will always be a huge range of prices and that's perfectly acceptable.
As long as my customers are happy and I'm happy, then I know my prices are just right. ![]()
anyhoo, im not trying to say one way or the other, im just putting them out there for debate. As a note, i get alot more custom since i put my vendors on the planetary map. But i also have to compete with neighbours who are also tailors, one who uses my pricelist as a guide but also sells good armourr etc and another who i have no idea how he can support himself cos he sells stuff like dusters and bounty hunter packs for under 500
:-(
So if they are lower than some would like.. i have to be competitive especially since i also have master tailors operatin in my vicinity also...
anyway:
This is my slightly out of date pricelist which has niveas prices for comparison
http://imp.uow.edu.au/staff/feen/swg/feens_tailor_prices.html
please ignore the bolded items as being the ones i can make, ive picked up quite a few more skill levels since i made this spreadsheet. Ive also adjusted a couple prices a little from this point as well (especially patterened wookiee gloves in comparison to plain paddded wook gloves, seems silly that the patterened ones were cheaper than the plain ones no-one wanted, so i upped them to 1k and downed plain padded to 900) and a few other things based on demand etc...
I derived these prices by using the spreadsheet basing them on resource cost and then added a base cost per tier of skill level on top of that.
-50 dom arts
0 novice
+100 tier I
+500 tier II
+1000 tier III
+2000 tier IV
+4000 master
and then i rounded up and down arbitrarily to modify for demand and a range of other things.
Im not yet master, i may round up my master prices somewhat when i get there based on demand and market rate for my server (valcyn)
im considering a small surcharge on items that need a crafting station cos i'd much rather be outside sampling when i makee most my gear. (i have a droid with craft station but he's a pain to get outside the house)
Feen your master stuff is way too low.
Those flightsuits take ELEVEN (11) factory components each. Three different types. If you crit fail that's 1/4 of a crate of synth cloth gone. It's approx 12 hours of factory time just to start making the items, for most people that would be 3-4 days it would take just to get the pieces to make 16 attempts at the suits. Not to mention the 40-60k for the factory, and the 10k to train master tailor plus any other training you had to get there.
Anything less than 10k for master items is an insult to yourself and a devaluling of your time and effort on a massive scale.
Heck, I charge an extra 1000cr just to relog to get people the orange color flightsuit. ![]()
I only have one argument for selling high on high-demand products like dusters and master stuff. People feel good wearing these stuff because it makes them look good and there's an elite factor about them. But if we sell them too low, then every noob on the planet is going to buy them and run around wearing dusters and flightsuits.
In the end, no one can feel special anymore.
So I would say go with Nivea's prices.
Personally I have never worn a duster even though I could make thema long time ago and I do think they look way cool. But EVERYONE can afford to buy one and EVERYONE is wearing one, so I don't want to anymore.
